V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the Donald Sterling scandal, said she was “very saddened” by the NBA's decision to ban him from the sport for life, her attorney said Tuesday.

V. Stiviano “never wanted any harm to Donald,” Calabasas lawyer Mac Nehoray of Calabasas told The Times.

He said the 31-year-old is still reeling from the release of the recordings in which Sterling chastises her for associating with African Americans, including Magic Johnson. He said that “someone released it for money” but it wasn't Stiviano.

“My client is devastated that this got out,” he said.

He also insisted that Stiviano and the 80-year-old Clippers owner never had a sexual or romantic relationship and descriptions of her as his mistress in the media and in a lawsuit filed by Sterling’s wife are erroneous.

The woman on the recording, who goes by the name V. Stiviano, cooperated with the NBA, as did a third person who was in the room when the tapes were made, another source told Shelburne. The woman verified to the league that it was her and Sterling on the tapes, according to the source.

Stiviano's lawyer, Mac Nehoray, told the L.A. Times his client didn't have a sexual or romantic relationship with Sterling, "never wanted any harm to Donald" and is "very saddened" by Silver's decision.

The recordings that have been released were made in September, and Sterling knew he was being recorded, the source told Shelburne. Stiviano has several additional hours of audio and video recordings of Sterling, according to the source.

Now I see why the NBA wants the Clips out of the Sterling family:

In a 2009 deposition, a tenant at one of the Sterling’s apartment buildings in Los Angeles County said that Rochelle Sterling called him a “black m—f—” during a discussion at the building.

“I asked her again, I asked her, ‘would you reduce the rent?’” Darrell Rhodes said in the deposition. “And she said, ‘who do you think you are, you black m—f—.’

“The way in which she said m—f— was more lower voiced, under her breath. She said black loud enough for me to hear, she said mother loud enough for me to hear. F— part was a little lower. I had to look at her lips to hear her say it. And I did.”

Rhodes, who filed a federal lawsuit against the Sterlings in 2007, alleged he was the target of discriminatory behavior by the Sterlings.

“Inflammatory remarks made directly to Darrell Rhodes by Shelley Sterling on several occasions indicate bias,” Rhodes wrote in a 2006 letter to the Sterlings that was entered into the court record. “We have been singled out in what we believe to be a discriminatory action.”

there is probably a great back story as to how and why these tapes
were and when they were released. either blackmail or revenge being
the more interesting motives. where's columbo when you need him.
personally i'm blaming edward snowden for the leak with putin being
being the mastermind behind the scenes pulling the strings. putin's
goal was to strike back at the US by disrupting the NBA playoffs
and using it as a distraction from his actions in the ukraine.
if one has any better idea, i'd like to hear it.

 V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the Donald Sterling controversy, was assaulted by two men in New York City Sunday, her lawyer confirmed to ABC News.

News of the incident was first reported by RadarOnline.
The situation happened at about 7 p.m. outside the Gansevoort Hotel in Manhattan, said Mac Nehoray, Stiviano’s lawyer.

Following the incident, Stiviano was examined by a doctor and found to be “banged up but OK,” Nehoray said.
Stiviano, 31, has not yet filed a police report.
Stiviano entered the public spotlight in March, after recordings between her and Sterling emerged online featuring the since-ousted Los Angeles Clippers owner’s racist rants.
