The managers running out of the dugout arguing with umpires is gone now..I don't know about the rest of you, but Piniella, Lasorda, etc. running out and throwing tantrums was classic stuff.... pretty much a lost art now
Except when the umps miss an obvious call that costs a team a game. It happened to me two years ago with a Marlins game and that one play cost me a season over bet that I had made and at the time it happened I said that this was going to cost me my Marlins over bet.
it is just weird looking kinda bush league in this day and age can't they at least get wireless headsets? and do they actually watch the replay or is someone just telling them the call?
there was a play at the plate in one game I was watching where the runner was out by all of 15 to 20 feet
the umps actually reviewed whether or not the catcher was illegally blocking the plate while waiting for the ball despite the fact the base runner was nowhere near the plate. They looked at this for at least 3 minutes before upholding the call and the runner was out
I was saying to myself that if they call this runner safe, I'm done with baseball
so much for that tradition of never changing the rules. I just think this shit is fucked up, the rule changes that is
