It's official. Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant was announced as the 2013-14 NBA's Most Valuable Player on Tuesday. After leading the Thunder to 59 wins behind averages of 32.0 points (league leader), 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists, Durant received the first MVP award of his career. He also shot 50.3 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from 3-point range, and 87.3 percent from the free throw line.
He ran away with the voting, receiving 119 of the possible 125 first-place votes and six second-place votes. He finished with 1,232 points from the voting, which gives 10 points for a first-place vote, seven points for a second, five points for a third, three points for a fourth, and one point for a fifth. LeBron James finished second in the voting, receiving the other six first-place votes, 118 seconds, and one third. Blake Griffin received the other second-place vote.

Chris Sheridan put LeBron in 3rd place, with Griffin in 2nd. Griffin more valuable than LeBron? Huh?

With the votes being completely public now you are gonna see less and less weird shit. For instance the dude from the Memphis Commercial Appeal voting for Conley 5th place MVP vote just looks like an idiot. There has been a lot of that stuff but now that it is public your seeing a lot of less of it. My guess is that guy will be embarrassed and just go with regular picks next year.

Also it is kinda cool seeing who gets a vote. Nique by far the best former player to get a vote....

If Griffin was off the team they would have less dunks but more freethrows made..mvp - NO

i disagree. I think he is very important to his teams success, of course not as much as lebron. i don't think they beat golden state without him. Game 1 when he got in foul trouble they lost. the next two games he scored 35 and 32, both victories.

Just about the best acceptance speech that I've heard from anyone accepting any kind of award. The guy is all class. He represents himself and the Thunder very well. I never thought I would be proud of a Longhorn...

great speech, really like this kid

loved how he gave props to my boy Caron, and he has gushed over Ollie's influence in the past

looks like he gotten more out of UConn than he did out of TX :)

JK, just chill already :)
