I am sure I am in the minority but this sounds like a good move by Golden State. There were obviously a lot of red flags behind the scenes which minimized the results on the court. Hopefully he learns from this when he gets his next opportunity.

He was sniffing around for the Nets job and the Clippers job.

I've had people who have worked for me (and worked with people such as this) who are always looking for the next best thing.

It usually never ends well.

It is a good move to get rid of him.

So you don't think it's ok for people to better themselves?

So you don't think it's ok for people to better themselves?

Putting yourself in a better position to succeed by improving your skills and/or accepting another opportunity/looking for your dream job...that's one thing. But then you get these people that will jump ship for a 5% raise, there's no loyalty there. I manage a lot of people and I see this a LOT. If you think you are worth X and I'm paying you .8X, then you have a gripe...but bring that gripe to me and prove to me why you deserve more. Don't just stay silent about it and plot when you can jump ship.

If I am holding up my end of the bargain as a employer and I pay you fairly it's very frustrating if you are constantly scouring high and low to find the next job that will pay you 5k more a year. As an employer I invest a lot in you. I have loyalty to you. I ask for some modicum of that in return.

I dont think KO is going anywhere, but at the moment he is going to enjoy his moment as the belle of the ball. If him sniffing around LA causes Wardes sphincter to pucker up some, then so be it. That's what happens when you start someone off at a lowball number.

Anyway, now there are reports that Steve Kerr may be interested in the Warriors job?

I am wondering why it has been more than a week since it was reported that Kerr had an actual contract offer from the Knicks.

What is he waiting for???

^ I agree with you there. GS has a better roster and he's already in San Diego.

From ESPN

Kerr, who lives in San Diego, has several ties to the Warriors' organization, which fired coach Mark Jackson on Tuesday, including strong relationships with Warriors owner Joe Lacob, son Kirk Lacob (who works in Golden State's front office) and Warriors president Rick Welts, with whom Kerr worked closely in Phoenix.

Rumor has it that Jackson, who is a moral and religious man, got fired for being against gay marriage.

Now, he's coaching in San Fransisco, and the owner is gay. Hmmm.

[h=2]Was Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson fired for his Christian views on gay marriage? That's what Ann Killion is asking at sfgate.com, noting that Jackson's lukewarm reaction to the coming-out of Jason Collins, last year was something of a mismatch for the Bay Area, which is the global capital of gay politics and culture.[/h] Killion writes:
Everything about Jackson was under scrutiny, which includes his very public persona as a religious man. It was probably not at the top of the list, but was probably on the list....
When Jason Collins made his historic pronouncement last year that he was gay, Jackson’s immediate response came out sounding less-than-supportive.
“I will say this,” Jackson said the day of the news. “We live in a country that allows you to be whoever you want to be. As a Christian man, I serve a God that gives you free will to be who you want to be. As a Christian man, I have beliefs of what’s right and what’s wrong. That being said, I know Jason Collins, I know his family, and am certainly praying for them at this time.”
What’s right and what’s wrong? Praying for someone who decided to live an honest life? His words created a very strange vibe, especially for a Bay Area team in the 21st century....
None of this was quite Donald Sterling-esque. But it was probably not the image the Warriors wanted to project, especially as they lobbied hard to move to San Francisco.
Killion also notes that Warriors team president Rick Welts "is openly gay, becoming the first high-ranking executive in professional sports to come out back in 2011." That, she suggests, may also have been a factor.

Seemed to be alot of issues with Jackson as coach.......doubt his moronic comments and stance on gays was a major factor.

he may have kids that don't want to move too

if his roots are there, it gives GS some leverage

Yeah plus he has ties in cali...i think i heard his daughter is in college out there also. The only plus about going east is the weakness of the conference....clearly gstate has a superior roster to nyk
