One of the numerous new taxes created under Obamacare will cost the United States hundreds of thousands of jobs over the next decade, a new report concludes.

The report by the National Federation of Independent Business Research Foundation, a nonprofit association of business owners, found that the Health Insurance Tax in the Affordable Care Act will cause a rise in the cost of employer-sponsored insurance to such an extent that the private sector will be forced to cut employment between 152,000 and 286,000 jobs by 2023.

Fifty-seven percent of the job losses, the report predicts, will come from small businesses, or firms with under 500 employees, which are traditionally the engines of innovation and job creation.

The result will also amount to a reduction of U.S. real output, or sales, of between $20 billion and $33 billion over that period.

"The HIT represents a new tax on small business that raises insurance costs for an already struggling Main Street and is contrary to the goals of healthcare reform," Amanda Austin, NFIB director of federal public policy, said in a statement.

"Singling out job creators for tax increases makes no sense for our economy, is short-sighted, and wrong for our nation's growth. NFIB will continue to highlight the very real and negative effects the HIT will have on small businesses and everyday Americans as we work to pass bipartisan legislation to repeal the HIT."

The conclusions were based on a dynamic, multi-region forecasting model built to analyze the impact of policy "shocks" on the economy, and is unique in its ability to forecast the economic impact of policies, differentiating U.S. businesses by size, NFIB said.

Some states will be disproportionally affected by the projected job losses, the model predicts. California is expected to be hit the hardest with a projected loss of 23,000 jobs by 2023 and a loss of $4 billion in sales for small businesses, the report found.

Texas could lose 14,500 jobs over the same period due to the tax and $2.5 billion in small business sales, while Florida will likely suffer a loss of 9,700 jobs and $1.2 billion in small business sales.

The federal government expects to collect $8 billion from the tax in 2014, rising to $14.3 billion by 2018, according to The Daily Caller. While the tax was aimed at hitting insurers' profits, the more likely outcome is for the cost of the tax to be passed along to those purchasing the plans, most of which are employers.

Meanwhile, the American Action Forum, a Washington-based free-market think tank, estimates that the Health Insurance Tax will increase consumer premiums by an average of $101 in 2014, and by an average of $143 in 2015 and 2016.

Note that the system that takes out duplicate enrollments is still....wait for it.....under construction.

So of course:

Duplicate enrollments: Because of the challenges that surfaced with the launch of the Exchanges in October 2013, some consumers were advised to create a new account and enroll again. As a result, insurers have many duplicate enrollments in their system for which they never received any payment. In cases where an insurer has a new enrollment for a consumer who previously enrolled, they are not expecting that original policy to be effectuated – even though that data is still reported.

Yup, but how can you expect private companies to compete in a marketplace with a competitor with an unlimited budget, and they just also so happen to make the rules, and don't have to turn a profit, nor are they expected to do nothing but lose billions.

Fucking retarded the shit the left does to destroy this country from within.

[h=2]California Obamacare patients are finding it more affordable to drive to Tijuana, Mexico for health care treatment than to use their high-deductible Obamacare plans.[/h]Irma Montalvo tells USA Today seeing a Tijuana doctor only costs $15 and that she likes her Mexican doctor better. "She listens to me," said Montalvo, a U.S. citizen who was born in Mexico, said in Spanish. "I come here feeling really bad, and three days later I am better." The Obama administration has lamented the fact that Latino Obamacare enrollments remain surprisingly low. However, according to USA Today, "Mexican immigrants living in California, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico have long sought health care in border cities such as Tijuana, Mexicali and Nogales. The Affordable Care Act won't change that, experts said." Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the UCLA School of Medicine Director David Hayes-Bautista said high U.S. costs and low access may mean that "it's possible even more U.S. residents may seek care with Mexican doctors." A 2009 study found that half a million Mexican immigrants living in California get their medical care in Mexico because their green cards allow them to travel back and forth across the border easily. The trend of Latinos forgoing Obamacare coverage because they prefer Mexican doctors, faster service, and significantly lower prices than their high Obamacare deductibles allow stand to further frustrate Obama administration efforts to coax Latinos to sign up. Lorena Villaneuva cleans homes in Riverside County, California and recently purchased a $150 a month Obamacare plan. Still, Villaneuva said she prefers getting care in Tijuana. "To be honest, I like to come here [Mexico] better even if I have insurance. Over there it's wasting money and time," said Villaneuva.

According to the article, they did the same thing prior to the ACA, too, so I don't get the point of your post.

The ACA was supposed to the “cure all” for the countries medical needs. $2500 in savings on average, keep your doctor, blah, blah, blah.

None of that turned out to be true.

Do you get the point of this post?

You dumbasses can't get your heads around that the "doctors" in Tijuana charge $15 for an office visit? How can the ACA undercut that price?

And, you republican dumbasses propose/post this a legitimate alternative to the USA's "greatest health care system in the world?" Are you saying Mexican health care is better?

Now that I think of it, why don't you tightwad, republican dumbasses start going to Tijuana for their excellent Mexican health care?

Tell us how it goes.

Give me a graph for Mexican health care so we can tie this to the linked article.

I don't have to give you a graph, the cost of free market healthcare in Mexico has already been documented.

"Irma Montalvo tells USA Today seeing a Tijuana doctor only costs $15 and that she likes her Mexican doctor better. "She listens to me," said Montalvo, a U.S. citizen who was born in Mexico, said in Spanish. "I come here feeling really bad, and three days later I am better."

Irma walks into her doctor's office, hands her $15 in cash and walks away a satisfied patient.

No paper. No red tape. No endless insurance forms to fill out.

What part of FIFTEEN BUCKS don't you understand? Okay, maybe it would cost $25 if they provided complimentary coffee and a REALLY hot secretary.

The price of healthcare in the USA is based on "someone else paying for it" which is an unsustainable bubble (see previous chart) like every industry Big Government gets involved in.

What was your question again?

Only 22% of Obamacare sign-ups are paid, previously uninsured enrollees

However, the proportion of individuals purchasing ACA plans who had been previously uninsured remained low. In February, McKinsey reported that only 27 percent of those selecting a new 2014 plan were previously uninsured; in April, the proportion was 26 percent.
