Who here has been sky diving?

1-10, 10 being extremely exciting/thrilling how do you rate it?

Anyone with a fear of heights ever done it?

I've been a few times. It is pretty exhilarating.

Chances you die is like 1/100k. Not bad odds either

Never been. It evidently can be pretty addictive.

I had a friend go once and now he literally goes every week.

I've done it once was awesome. However I recommend do not eat before doing it. I was eating a sub while walking to get on the plane. Everyone said I was gonna puke. I laughed them off with a big smile. The tandem instructor made sure to do a series of turns on the way down where we dropped hundreds of feet in a few seconds. Once we landed I was white as a ghost and puked a few minutes later. Everyone laughed at me.

Going to do it the first Sunday of June. Know a guy that has done it 500 times. He's going to videotape it and the head guy is going to be my tandem. My knees start jelloizing when I get on my roof, but I would think at that at 12,000 feet, my mind won't realize what is going on and I'll be able to climb out on the wing.

If you're scared of heights and want to try it, why not try the Indoor ones, or at least them first? It's actually really cool because there is no tandem, and it's a lot harder to control than you would think.

I didn't realize I was scared of heights until I got up there for the first time. Never had an issue but once the chute and i were strapped in and we hit jump height , it was a tandem jump with an instructor the first time , my knees just buckled. If my sister and my cousins wife both hadn't gone before me and jumped out without hesitation I might've backed out but my manhood was at stake. Did it, and it was amazing, completed 3 solo jumps since. It's such a rush, I highly recommend the experience. Blows bungee jumping or cliff diving out of the water, going to try hang gliding this year, so that's my biggest warning you may become addicted to the rush and want to try bigger and badder.

I did an accelerated freefall my first time. Never did tandem because I wanted to do it alone rather than attached. The class was actually kinda brutal, it was like 9hrs starting at 7am and when it ended I just wanted to jump. Just knowing the stats I wasn't really nervous about it.

Like riding a motorcycle is 1 of the most dangerous things you can do and I believe the #1 cause of head trauma. A lot of people would probably do that before skydiving, kinda weird how that works.

I'm afraid of heights and have done it twice. I figured at that height everyone is scared so what difference does it make. Awesome experience.

That wasn't an option here, first jump had to be tandem and then yeah I had to take the all day class, just brutal. I don't know that I would've had the stones to do it solo my first time out but after my first experience I couldn't wait to get out there and try it. Then the class killed my soul, felt like the jump would never come.

It's so true what you said about motorcycles, I've got buddies who ride and I used to ride, those friends would never even bungee jump thinking it's reckless but they think they're in control on the bike so it's safe but from my time riding it was never me I was worried about, it was the shitty other drivers that had me worried. Never knew what somebody was thinking and if they were watching blind spots or whatever, a couple of close calls and my bike days were done. Ive never met a rider who has been at it for some time that hasn't hit the pavement, give me the open skies and a chute anytime over that.

Not sure if I have a fear of heights or not but in some cases I get dizzy up high. It was not the case at all when I did the jump though... being up there and you can see for miles toward the horizons. For some reason I didn't get dizzy and when I knelt at the door and looked straight down it was all good.

The coolest thing I think I ever saw was after the second somersault/tumble, I looked up at that underbelly of the plane against a dark blue sky as I was falliing --fkng beautiful!!!

A group of us used to jump every Saturday. It was great!! Then one by one, my buddies got married. All of a sudden the wives considered me the Angle of Death when I'd try to talk hubby into a few Saturday jumps. That is when I stopped jumping.

Go with a group and take the jump if you get the chance. You'll love it!!

Went several times back in Germany, awesome feeling and enjoyed the view from up there, esp. in the Alps. Don't feel comfortable f.e. at the edge of a cliff or at great heights if there is no railing, but never felt uncomfortable jumping though.

Do it. It's amazing. If you do it, remember to keep your head up. I go once a year or so, usually with someone who has never done it. They always miss out on the view by staring down during the jump.
