Safe to say Milan Lucic (right) didn't make any new friends in the handshake line on Wednesday night — and P.K. Subban was probably more than happy to wish Lucic a happy summer.

The handshake line is one of hockey’s time-honored traditions, and it’s supposed to be a goodwill sign of sportsmanship and all of that mumbo-jumbo. That’s a funny concept when you consider it attempts to bring together a bunch of grown men who tried to beat the tar out of each other for the last couple of weeks.

The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens had a handshake line on Wednesday night after the Habs eliminated the Bruins with a 3-1 win at TD Garden. The bitter rivals quickly gathered at center ice for the show of respect, and things appeared to get a little heated.

That was especially evident as Boston forward Milan Lucic went through the line. The big winger had some strong handshakes and appeared to have a few words with a few select Habs players. Those words, according to one Canadiens player, were not “Good job, buddy.”

Montreal forward Dale Weise accused Lucic of threatening him during the handshakes.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger Follow Weise says Lucic threatened him in the handshake and said something similarly threatening to Emelin. Emotional series ends with tough words.

</time>“Milan Lucic had a few things to say to a couple guys,” Weise added. “You look at a guy like Shawn Thornton who has been around the league, and he plays hard and he plays that role and he had good things to say to everybody. He won with class, and Milan Lucic just couldn’t do that. Well, I won’t get into what he said, it’s just poor, it’s a poor way to lose.”

This may sound crazy, but imo one of the things that was a turning point in the series was Thornton spraying PK with water at the end of game. Gave the Habs another reason to get fired up against the Bruins, who showed a complete lack of respect for their opponent. Lucic's behavior is just another prime example - and this coming from a guy who did nothing in the series. How many times over the years has Montreal managed to stick it to Boston during the playoffs? Last night was just another bitter pill for Bruins fans to swallow.

disappointing to see someone as good of a player as Lucic act so poorly. He should have just gone in to the dressing room and not bother shaking hands if he's so upset. It was poor sportsmanship but I can understand the disappointment he felt losing and to the Habs of all teams. Playing hockey myself when I was younger and losing a playoff series and shaking hands after words is very strange and not that easy to do with some of the "enemy" you just lost to.

Caption for the first pic. "You Mad Bro?"

hahaha.... he sure has reason to be pissed- HE missed a wide open net in OT of game 1. Series likely ends in 5 if he nets it. ...........end of the day gotta shake hands, awful Lucic. He and Chara were disappointing this series-- looked slow, often lost out there.
