I think the NBA put a muzzle on in game announcers

they were all incredibly easy on the bad calls Thursday. Hubie Brown is seeming senile when doing these games, always seeing stuff on replays only he does when justifying an horrific call. But Jeff Van Gundy usually lets it rip, and he was very mild mannered. The Clippers game had some doozies.

In the 4th qtr alone.

1) Westbrook plows into Griffin, as easy a charge call as there is, called a block.
2) Paul's offensive foul call when Collinson jumped into the air and landed on him under the rim after Collinson moved several feet diagonally while in the air is one of the worst calls I've ever seen.
3) I think Griffin's 6th foul was a clean block on Westbrook. He had all ball on top, looked like he avoided the body too.
4) On jordan's 6th foul, Westbrook wasn't tripped he just lost his balance on an out of control drive to the hoop
5) I know there was at least one call OKC was screwed in the 4th, may have been another block / charge incident

yet through it all Van Gundy essentially ignored all this nonsense, save for saying he didn't like the charge call on Paul (he couldn't shut up on that one, but Breen tried to justify the call by saying Paul may have extended his arm)

not sure who they think they're fooling, but the NBA is obviously embarrassed by what's been going down and they put word out to shut up, IMHO

Again, the only sport that is seemingly dominated by the officiating. Every game, first thing everyone talks about is the officials. So tired of this league, and so are a lot of people.

me included

as much as I enjoyed the first round, the second round was simply nauseating with all the horseshit

of course the Rockets would tell you the 1st round was nauseating, but I digress

basketball is the most subjective sport, which is why its the sport where people whine about it the most.

They made it that way themselves with all of the stupid rule changes to promote offense and promote individual players.

Just call traveling like it was called 30 years ago and most of the problems will solve themselves.

Problem is they insist on having dumb athletes give their worthless opinion, The white guys that maybe played basketball have more to offer because they have actually WORKED for their position instead of having it handed to them. Mike and Mike sucks but you notice they will put Greeny on by himself but never Golic. Also, it is hard to understand them.

Having announcers tow the line by not being honest hurts the game more than bad calls.. the public knows what they are seeing.. and to simply ignore it turns the nba into BOXING FROM THE 70s AND 80s. EVERYONE knew the corruption

Hubie Brown does an excellent job!

I remember a game from a long time ago, before he returned to coaching (and since returned to the booth)

there was a foul called and there was absolutely no contact, nothing that could be mistaken for contact, nothing that came close to contact. They show the replay, and the replay clearly shows there was at least 1 foot separating the players from head to toe, not so much as a finger came within 1 foot of the player on offense. Brown says "there it is, the replay clearly shows it was a good call". I haven't taken him seriously since then.

Now I've never heard him say something as blatantly wrong as that since that day, but to suggest every call is a good call tells me all I need to know. Hubie thought every call was a bad call when coaching, and now tells us every call is a good call. IMHO, that's just as wrong as arguing every call sucks and the games are all fixed.

They were very quite on the controversial calls, usually there will be a replay, say why it was the correct call or a missed call... not so much last night

And, when the network and the league consider themselves "business partners" you know the announcers will not be objective.

lets hope the officiating is at its "finest" for the final rounds. I think the 2 teams will make it to finals that deserve it most anyway unless the refs themselves control for a durant vs lebron final, but it should be a great championship ahead either way.

Westbrook is the new toughest guy to officiate in the league easily. Regardless of someones opinion of him as a player, he is unique in that there really hasn't been a player with that type of athleticism/size at the point before.

Also fwiw, Blake drilled him in the head when he fouled out. Was clearly a foul.
