They have Jay Hey for cheap. Forgot Upton's lack of success, but what I don't get his how you give him $75M when he couldn't hit .240? I don't get it. Also, he lacks hustle, I could accept it he made up for it with great effort.

I'm all for athletes getting what they deserved but MLB would be a lot better off with an NBA-like CBA.

No more than 5 year deals, max contracts. These teams are spending money like drunken sailors

Pats,

Some of these signings don't even make sense from a baseball perspective or economic POV (mean drawing fans, etc).

Not one person was like, wow, we got Robbie Cano, let me get some M's Season Tix. Stephen Drew getting $10M yesterday for the remainder of the season, really. Should have given him no more than $7.

Yankees paying Jeter $45M at the end of his career. When they could have given him 30.

Worst deal ever, Arod opting out and Yanks bid against themselves and pay $275 until he is 42. Plain stupid. Trout and Kershaw deals make sense even if they don't live up to the money because of age and years.

UPTON ALERT

B.J. Upton has an eight-game hitting streak and 13 stolen bases. He stole 12 bases in 2013.

Make it a 9 game hit streak...........I remember being at a Braves game last year and B.J. Upton was getting booed every time he made an out, but then he won the game in the extra innings........The entire crowd was rooting for him as everyone wanted him to succeed.......After that game everyone thought it would give him confidence and get him going for the season, but it didn't happen.....At least he has a better batting average this year....He's improving..

It should also be noted during B.J.Upton's 9 game hit streak the Braves have won 7 games in a row and 9 out of 10..........He's the X-Factor and has a bigger impact than Uggla these days who is hitting .163 with 2 Homeruns and gets 13 million this year for those numbers.
