Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Alex Guerrero and Albuquerque Isotopes teammate Miguel Olivo were involved in a dugout altercation during a Triple-A game in Salt Lake City on Tuesday in which Olivo bit off part of Guerrero's ear, according to Guerrero's agent.
Guerroro, a Cuban infielder the Dodgers signed for $28 million this past winter, was taken to a hospital. His agent, Scott Boras, told several media outlets that Guerrero was having plastic surgery on his ear after part of it was bitten off by Olivo, the Isotopes' catcher.
ESPN.com reported that Guerrero could miss five weeks.

</aside>Salt Lake City police told ESPN.com said Guerrero told them he did not want to file a report until he spoke with a lawyer.
Guerrero, 27, played for the Dodgers during their season-opening trip to Australia, but has been with Albuquerque since the Triple-A season began. Olivo, 35, was sent to the minor leagues by the Dodgers last week when A.J. Ellis came off the disabled list.
Tuesday's disagreement began on the mound during an Albuquerque pitching change in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Los Angeles Times reported Olivo was upset that Guerrero, who was playing shortstop, failed to tag out a runner after a throw from Olivo.
The argument continued in the dugout, and the altercation ensured. Both players were removed from the game. It is unclear whether either will be subject to further discipline.
The Dodgers released a statement saying they were aware of the incident and were investigating.
Guerrero is hitting .376 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs for Albuquerque. He is hitting .457 with six homers over the past 11 games.
