CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns are aware Pro Bowl receiver Josh Gordon, facing a possible NFL suspension for another failed drug test, was ticketed for speeding last weekend. A passenger in his car was cited for marijuana possession.Gordon is facing a season-long suspension after another failed drug test months ago, this time for marijuana, sources told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" earlier this month. Gordon was suspended two games last season for failing a drug test.
Gordon was pulled over for driving 74 mph in a 60 mph zone on May 25, WKYC-TV reported Friday. According to the report, the passenger in Gordon's Mercedes was issued a citation for possession of marijuana in an amount under 200 grams. The marijuana was found in a blue bag with identification. The passenger said the marijuana was not Gordon's.
Browns general manager Ray Farmer issued a statement regarding Gordon's latest issue.
"We are gathering information regarding the situation," Farmer said. "We will not have any further comment until the appropriate time."
Gordon's pending case is posted online on the Berea Municipal Court docket. It says Gordon showed proof of insurance when he was stopped and that he did not have any warrants. He is due to appear in court on June 4.
The traffic stop comes as the Browns are awaiting news whether Gordon will be available to play this season. The talented 23-year-old was suspended two games last season for failing a drug test and still led the league with 1,664 yards receiving.
Gordon has been practicing with the Browns as he awaits word from the league on the possible suspension. Gordon has declined to comment at the workouts that have been open to the media the past two weeks.
Last year, Gordon was convicted of two traffic offenses after pleading no contest in court. He was ticketed twice for speeding, once for driving 98 mph. He paid $296 in fines and court costs.
Former Browns coach Rob Chudzinski spoke to Gordon about his actions.

Lol dude cannot buy a break.

If Miles Austin doesn't get injured within 3 weeks which is about a 1% shot he can do some things this year.

Not hating at all as he knows one more strike he gets a years ban and he goes out and either smokes weed or didnt show up for the test which is an automatic strike how dumb can he be.Now to top it off he gets pulled over and his passenger has weed in the car doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that he shouldn't be around people like that. Also last time I check in Ohio marijuana was illegal to have and the NFL bans you for that

GMs of NFL teams "really care."

Gordon is screwed. Probably suspended for a year, and it wouldn't surprise me if the Browns cut him. Do you really think any team will give him a multi-year contract in 2015 and take the chance that he could be suspended for even longer than a year, if not given a lifetime ban?

It amazes me that some people are literally incapable of staying away from that crap with so much at stake. Gordon could have been set for life financially. My guess is he'll be a broke bum in 10 years or less. Hope blazing up was worth it!

Listen, I understand why you might be disappointed in losing your best WR. I get it, my skins lost a starting TE and LT due to weed. I just don't get how people can fault NFL players for smoking? Would you rather have them take pain pills? It's just weed for heaven sakes.

:ohno:
why do they have to take anything? that attitude is and thought process is very immature. If you get paid millions to catch a football, voluntarily signed up for it, follow the rules. Its simple. And people are upset that he is wasting his talent and hurting their team. Obviously this guy cares more about doing what he wants than winning

have never played in the NFL? no, but I am sure like most people here have played in HS and for fun, back in the day of course, I still play basketball now.

But there are other ways to repress pain. These guys have the best of the best sports trainers, equipment, supplements, etc. Money for their training and recovery is not issue. They need surgery, it gets done.

Put yourself in the owners or managements shoes, you are paying a guy millions to catch a ball, part of his agreement with you is do not do this list of drugs. So when he does not follow that, very simple rule and continues to break it, your not going to think its a big deal? since its something so simple yet its a reoccurring issue thats what makes it the 'big deal' If he is done for the season based on his own actions (done purposely) and not by inj.... then yea thats frustrating

I understand the policy. It's just disturbing to me that marijuana is still illegal. The other ways to deal with pain. what pain killers, cortisone shots and god knows what else they give these guys? Lets not worry about their kidneys, lol. And recovery is one of the main issues. Why do you think 65% of the NBA smokes weed?

I would be willing to bet he isn't smoking weed to cope with pain from football. He just likes getting high, bottom line. As a owner of construction firm, I drug test randomly. I personally don't hate the drug, I just have to have people think with a clear mind. If I owned an nfl team I would feel the same way.
