Was thinking about going to the Belmont tomorrow with a friend. I live in South Jersey but we can't leave till about 1:30pm in the afternoon. I read where the track only has about 18,000 parking spaces. Where do you park once they are filled up. Are there remote lots and what is the traffic situation going there mid-afternoon and leaving right after the Belmont Stakes. I know there are two races after the Stakes. Never been to Belmont and I went to Aqueduct one time over 30 years ago. I imagine the attendance could rival the Smarty Jones crowd which was 120,000.

You won't even get near the parking lot if you are leaving at that time.

They are talking 130,000+ and I believe them.

Now this MIGHT work ... and if you don't mind Walking a little ... if you get off the exit ( which might be closed by the time you get there ) Stay on Hempstead tpk and go East. Pass Belmont, about 3 or 4 blocks away is a Home Depot, with a few other stores ( huge parking lot ) Park there and walk back to Belmont.

Only thing I could think about. Because I would think anything around the area.. even down the blocks, every Parking spot will be taken

I saw the Home Depot on the map before I started thread. I wonder if they try to stop people from parking there unless they are going into store. I imagine a lot of people have the same idea.

Last time I went was when Coastal beat Spectacular Bid, it took me 2 hours to get out of the parking lot so every year since I watched it
on TV.
