No worries. I think you are risking 25 regardless of it being a favorite or dog.... and that is the confusion for people. Generally, when people play 1 unit on a -110 game, they risk 1.1 units to win 1 unit. And when people play +110 or +150 they put 1 unit down to win 1.1 or 1.5.
So in your case, some may see $25 risked at -125 (Detroit game from yesterday) as being a 31.50 bet to win 25.

Keep working at keeping your units low until football (or whatever you prefer comes around).

What you quoted is an iron-clad rule in bases.... so your inexperience really sticks out. Good to be low on your units. Betting all these totals and not knowing how they work is scary.
