White Sox @ Twins
Recommendation: White Sox -108
Boy have the White Sox bats heated up over the last few games. The team from the south side of Chicago swept the Giants in a 2 game set, scoring a total of 15 runs in the process! And how good has Jose Abreu been forthis squad? The rookie hasn’t even played the whole season with the Sox, andalready has 20 homers. The bats up and down the order are lighting it up forChicago right now, and that’s not likely to change tonight. The Twins sendYohan Pino to the mound after calling him up for from AAA Rochester. First ofall, the only reason that Pino is even in this game is because Samuel Dedunohas an ERA north of 10 in his last 4 starts! The Twins have no other options, plain and simple. There’s a reason that Pino has been in the minors the last 10years. His stuff just isn’t that good. Pino was once looked at as a topprospect, but that was a long time ago, way back in 2004 to be exact. In 2008he suffered a foot injury and just wasn’t the same after that. He has goodnumbers in the minors this year, but this is a guy who has a fastball in thehigh 80’s that has to rely on his other pitches to get outs. I just don’t thinkhe can do it against a White Sox team that is this hot. Jose Quintana has notpitched well lately for the Sox, hence why the line is where it’s at. He doeshave success in his previous outings against Minnesota, however. The Twins havedropped 5 straight, which is their longest losing streak of the season. Don’texpect them to get back on track tonight. Take the White Sox -108.
Brewers @ D’Backs
Recommendation: Brewers -118
Yovani Gallardo is right back to his dominant self. TheBrewers stud has only allowed 1 run with 16 strikeouts is his last two starts. He has also never lost to the Diamondbacks. The Brew Crew dropped a game in theseries Wednesday but they should be primed to win their 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] game inthis 4 game set. Milwaukee had won 4 straight on the road before taking lastnight’s loss. Carlos Gomez in also back in the lineup after a minor injury andthis guy is on absolute fire right now. We look to go against another rookiewith Chase Anderson throwing for AZ. Chase has pitched fairly well since beingcalled up from AA but his command is a big issue right now. You don’t want tobe walking players with as much power as Milwaukee has. It also amazes me howhorrible the D’backs are at home. It’s like they’re a completely differentteam. Edge to the Brewers in pitching and offense tonight. The price looksright, so lets lay the small chalk and take the Brewers -118.
