Posted this a minute ago in the Baseball Forum. Thought it would be a good discussi0n here as well.

Clayton Kershaw absolutely deserved to pitch a perfect game last night. The error by SS Hanley Ramirez, while not as easy as a little league play..... should have been made routinely.... no doubt.

Harold Reynolds of MLB Network made excuses for Ramirez. Weak excuses in my view. They may be buddies or something. Usually I have lots of respect for Harold, but not in this case.

Ramirez basically being a hotdog lazy ass cost Kershaw the perfect game.

There was some mention about Ramirez hurting a finger the night before on his throwing hand. If he was compromised in ANY WAY he should have been out of the game. NO DISCUSSION. LA had an 8-0 lead in the top of the seventh inning.

I am a Giants fan and therefore root only for Kershaw and Mattingly when it comes to the Dodgers. I will disclose that. But whoever you are and whoever you root for...... this should have been a perfect game for Kershaw.

He was terrific but the third baseman made a great play to throw out Tulo and someone lined one that was just a couple of inches foul in the eighth. There are always a few plays that have to go your way. The amazing stat is Vince Scully has called 22 no-hitters.

I agree on the "22". Unreal stat. The foul ball was the only ball even near to being 'barreled up" as they say, in the game. He was completely dominant. Fifteen strikeouts.

Yes, most all pitchers need a good play somewhere and the play by the third basman was a nice play on both ends with the dig at first.
