Used to like to play futures till I realized how much vig there was. Also used to play series's too, till I smartened up. In my case at least, I can get reduced juice on Hockey and Bases on individual games but not series's, so I just bet the individual games. Same with NBA, spread betting vig is almost always smaller when compared to series prices. Plus it's easier to manage your money using Kelly when money isn't tied up. Plus correct money management on a 10-1 future, is to figure out your edge % and then divide it by ten so you're not over risking. Not really worth it IMO.
I like to know where I stand at the end of each day, but I have started betting a few series prices in the NBA/MLB/NHL last couple years with some success.
I don't have the patience to leave my money tied up in a future, say before the season starts. This is at an online sportsbook. I have had friends go to Vegas and I send them with a couple hundo to put on the Bears or Cubs to win it all during the offseason. I figure if it ever would cash it would give me a reason to go out there and cash my ticket.
