Pirates @ Cubs
Recommendation: Pirates -120
The Cubs come home to Wrigley Fieldtoday after a long road trip. This sets up as a classic “let down” spot forChicago, after going 5-5 while on the highway. The Pirates will be the opponentand they have had no problem beating the Cubs this year, going 7-3 againstthem.
There’s also a lot of positive momentum in theBucs organization right now after the call up of Gregory Polanco. The rookiesensation is batting .378 and has a hit in each of his 9 big league games. Why Pittsburghwaited so long to call this guy up is beyond me, but he’s here now and willcontinue to produce at an alarming rate. Andrew McCutchen is having his typicalMVP type season, and he owns Edwin Jackson, who will start tonight for Chicago.
Jackson has lost his last 2 startswhile giving up 10 runs in 10 innings. He also got shelled the last time heplayed the Pirates. Charlie Morton started that one, and he’s on the hill againtonight for Pitt. Despite only allowing 1 runs the last time he faced the Bucs,Morton dominated a surprisingly above average Marlins team in his last outing.Pitching edge and offensive edge to Pittsburgh in this one. Expect more of thesame results. Take the Pirates -120.

Dodgers @ Padres
Recommendation: Dodgers +100
I hadto pinch myself a few times yesterday while watching the Padres game againstthe Mariners. I still don’t really believe it! Did they really score 4 runs!!!San Diego is on a 2 game winning streak and lighting it up at the plateaccording to their standards.
Of course I’m being sarcastic, butI was pleasantly surprised to see this line at even money, and feel that we canbenefit from what is clearly a market misconception. That was about as good asit’s going to get for the Padres, and I’m almost certain that they will immediatelyregress and go back to their non hitting, losing ways.
Dan Haren’s won his last 2 startsand looks to help the Dodgers to their 4[SUP]th[/SUP] straight win tonight, onenight after the sensational performance by Clayton Kershaw. Haren has been alittle rocky in the first inning of his last couple starts but the Padresoffense should be the perfect medicine to get him settled in early.
Ian Kennedy throws for the Padres. His stuff has been average at best and he’s having some serious command issuesright now. The Dodgers also had the day off on Thursday to get some rest, sothey should be fresh. The Padres are now down to 1.9 RPG this month. Lets takeour even money and head straight to the window. Take the Dodgers +100.
