Indians v Tigers
Recommendation: Indians -125
JustinVerlander has been getting lit up on a regular basis this year, and the Indiansare the last team that he wants to face right now. Of all the teams teeing offon Verlander, Cleveland has had the most success against him over the past 2seasons, averaging almost 7 hits per game while facing him over that span. It’sno coincidence that this is due to the fact that they get to see him so much, with both teams playing in the AL Central. Keep in mind that this success alsocame at a time when Verlander was pitching dominantly against nearly everyopponent.
It’snot only Justin that’s struggling lately. The Tigers bullpen has been a messall season, and the offense isn’t producing at its normal rate either, despitewinning the opener Friday. As is the case with virtually every division in theleague, the AL Central is completely up for grabs. Cleveland certainly has theability to win it. This is the best Indians’ offense we’ve seen in a long time, and they’re strongest against right handed pitching.
Trevor Bauer hasn’t been great forthe Tribe this season, but as long as he manages the game and doesn’t get blownup, they will have enough offensive firepower to take down the Tigers at home. This is an important series for Cleveland, and after losing game one, look fora bounce back here. Take The Indians -125.
A’s vs. Red Sox
Recommendation: A’s -148
RubbyDe La Rosa’s efficiency at home vs. on the road couldn’t be more opposite. DeLa Rosa hasn’t allowed a single run at Fenway in his 2 starts there. Put him onthe road however, and you’ll see a nauseating 0-2 record, with 8 runs allowedin just 11 1/3 innings. Throw in the fact that he is likely headed to the bullpenwith the return of Clay Buchholz looming, and this spot just doesn’t set upwell for the Sox.
The A’shave been at the top of the list in terms of providing profit to their backersthis season. Jesse Chavez is back to pitching the way he did at the start ofthe season. After taking an extra day’s rest, Chavez gave up only 1 run in 6strong in his last start against the Yankees. His ERA now sits at 2.93.
The A’sbullpen is playing extremely well also, especially closer Sean Doolittle.Doolittle sports an outstanding 48:1 strikeout to walk ratio, while not allowinga single run in the last 20 times he’s been called upon! The A’s will continueto win, and put money in our pockets in the process. Take the A’s -148.
