Something cheap like $50, but you can refer your friends. Maybe it goes 6 levels deep. $10 commission for someone you refer, and their referral's $50 you get $5, their referral gives you $4, their referral gives you $3 and the 5th and 6th level down is $2 and $1.

True ponzi is illegal, so maybe we are buying a $50 membership to some website. You get a T-shirt or something. I don't know the legal way to do multi-level marketing

you only pay $50 (very cheap compared to other things), and you refer 3 friends and they get 3 friends you already made $75 off of your $50 investment.

loomis, you are thinking too small time....i'm trying to appeal to what I think is a younger audience. $50 in an app store for a young high school/college kid is probably like $1500 for an adult trying to get into Amway or whatever these multi level guys are trying to sell.

i'm thinking volume will win out here.

Amway? REALLY???? Only people i have known that have gotten into that "game" are people who couldn't even maintain a job at McDonalds or Burger King and had a friend/ family member front them the cash.

Volume is key....anything over 1.99 won't get it

yeah, i figured that one would be not worth it...which is why i posted the idea....

but I have noticed when on vacation, you will spend money on a lot of things for convenience, including $0.99 apps.....or I could do a free ad based version of the app and nearby retail stores/eateries will pay me to advertise.

and on top of that, once the template is set I would assume it will be very cheap to incorporate at other parks....so $100k for one park might only mean $5k for the next one, and after 10 parks, i'm looking at $15k per app/park

I can't argue with anything you have said except that I think we are looking at two different things.

Cant agree more with people that get into that "game"....but those will be my bread and butter clients.....and with $50, they dont need the family member to front the cash....run a quick scenario where you get 10 friends that get 10 friends, etc. etc. that will blind them (I can't do this math on the fly, but level one gets you $100, level 2 gets you $500, and then it gets crazy)

also, agree that $1.99 is probably the limit on high volume apps....but i think this falls into a completely different category....this isn't an app or a game, it is a "business", a way to make money. I think it is just masked as an app being that you buy it in the play store or app store. Commissions are obviously paid as a check/direct deposit into your bank and not through the play store.

I like the concept but apple would never approve that

I really like the theme park thing. Do you really think it would cost that much? I don't think so.
I have a golf app that has every layout of every golfcourse in the United States with real time gps. I would figure that would be much more complicated to pull of then a layout of disneyworld

you and me can go in together chop....i have been at theme parks and those maps are helpful but a free/cheap phone app sounds better....and at a park, a $0.99 app is nothing compared the $5 bottle of water.....

there are other apps where you can even post the wait times for the rides....that can be incorporated as well....(linked from the other app or input into this app separately)

I honestly like it. Like I said earlier. The golf app I have literally has every hole of every golf course in the USA on it. It tells me to the foot how far away I am from the hole.

Your idea would be much simpler to do then the golf app.

All you would have to do is get the already made up maps of the theme parks overplayed with the real time gps

Haha.
One thing I have learned is sometimes you think you are the first person to come up with an idea until you do some research and find out that it's already been done.

Go to the apple App Store and type in "theme park nerd guide"

Who is that one poster that always has some sort of scam going on? Never works and always looking for free handouts?

I don't know if it would be more simple than the golf course app. Those GPS apps you just map where the center of the green is (sometimes front and back, and sometimes hazzards) and your GPS is just telling you how far to that point.

My app idea actually tells you how to get there. So there needs to be some sort of programming which I have no idea how to do....my plan was for it to be simple. Something that tells the user where to turn (in terms of landmarks/rides, not just distance). I think something like that helps a lot when a park is crammed, u have a stroller, kids running, a turkey leg in one hand, and you don't want to spread out a big map with the wind blowing. Not only rides, you can find the nearest bathroom, atm, baby changing station, alcohol, smoking area.

What excites me about it is all the side things. Maybe Goofy's kitchen will throw an ad in there. Maybe there can be coupons or groupons linked in there. Wedny's down the street might want to throw a discount in there.
