Is the rest of the world offended that the #1 nation in the world is basically indifferent to soccer?
Or does the rest of the world want us to like it?
Or do they not give a fuck one way or the other?

If the US wanted to put the resources in we could dominate soccer like we do almost all other sports. But we simply don't value it enough.

I don't think they care though

Only about 10% of the country gives two shats about soccer. We don't care about it. We think it's a lame sport. Sorry, that's just the way we feel about it. 90% of our athletes grow up to play baseball, football, basketball. 90% of these european/third world athletes grow up wanting to be soccer stars. And every once in a while they'll produce the sporadic non-soccer athlete like Dirk Nowitzki. Otherwise they are learning to play soccer from when they can walk.

EXACTLY!

If even 5% of our top athletes who grow up playing football, basketball, and baseball, instead concentrated on soccer, the U.S. would dominate it as well...

world doesn't care, i'm pretty sure ratings are better than expected regardless....sponsor money is coming in regardless, take a look at this nice raise they gave themselves http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...le-pay-rise-new-ethics-rules-ban-bonuses.html

Now if US top athletes would concentrate on soccer you would be top 5 in the world not dominate the sport, would be something like germany, brazil, argentina, france, spain a powerhouse but dominate like you say

I think the other countries grow up playing soccer because it's the cheapest sport to play. All you need is a ball. I went to Jamaica in 2007 and played a pick up game with the locals. I went to the huts with a local and got the game together. These kids were dirt poor. Some of the huts were no bigger than 200 square feet. It was really eye opening how poor some of these people are. I'd say 60% of the kids playing didn't even have shoes to wear. They played bare footed. I guarantee I was the only white guy they had ever played with in their life. We played soccer for about 4 hours that day. It was an awesome experience.

Soccer is only interesting when it's the Olympics or the World Cup.

The US is indifferent to soccer! The rest of the world who illegally come here if you can call them Americans are interested. The more immigrants from 3rd world countries coming here will increase the interest in soccer in the US.

a few places I have been, the people I encountered thought it was strange that we call it soccer. I think the US is the only country that calls the game soccer.
