How much does baseball make a year compared to other sports?

I do agree there should be a shorter season or something. No games matter till July. When baseball season starts there is excitement but I get bored after a month.

I would rather shorten the game than the season. 7 innings max and maybe a few less games.

Yep, I agree with that. Seven innings and call it quits. Also change the rules for extra innings. No game should go to 15 innings. In extra innings you start with men on 1st and 2nd. Same rules as World Baseball Classic.

Baseball is too married to stats to change the number of games or the number of innings.

Baseball is almost an individual team sport where individual personal stats are just as or more important then team stats.
This is why there was such an outcry when it came to steroids in baseball but it is hardly an issue or even a thought in other sports because steroids started making numbers like 755 and 61 not mean as I find hilarious is #2

Not the fact that they are thinking about moving the extra point to the 20.
The funny part is the experiment of doing it for the first 2 preseason games like this is supposed to be some kind of ground breaking study.lol

What in the hell kind if data do this geniuses think they are going to discover during this 2 week period?lol
They've never seen a 30 yard fg before?

I mean I'm sure they could call up the folks at NFL Films an
No other sport has so much invested in numbers as baseball.

Everyone knows how many homers hank Aaron hit. But I bet 95% of basketball fans could not tell you within 2000 points how many points Kareem scored in his career. And I bet you half the nba fans would not even know Kareem is the nbas alltime leading scorer.

Mlb is a slave to its stats and because of this they will never be able to make any significant changes.

Good buddy of mine.. Lives in New England, has seven year old boy.. Watches and intrested in every major sport as a child could be... has zero interest in watching baseball. Zero. Too boring too slow.

Sport has major problem going forward.

salary cap would make baseball interesting again. They lost the Canadian market which is replaced with soccer and now baseball is an average sport with soccer now taking off in the US where kids can pick it over baseball.

You could watch a World Cup match today that went to penalty kicks in the amount of time it took for these teams to play 5 fn innings.

Bug Selig thinks the WBC Classic has a chance to compete with the World Cup on an interest level? Hilarious. Not in 20 generations.

It's kind of bizarre, but baseball is in a weird state that the game needs changes...yet no one can think of any good ones, Some have suggested shortening the game to seven innings but...I don't know. How would that help improve the overall game quality? In the end, the season just seems too long. Football off-season is an eternity while baseball always seems to be on year-round, making individual games somewhat irrelevant. Outside of Yankees and Red Sox fans, I'd bet 95% of the people tuned in tonight are gamblers. No one I know watches baseball casually.

they should use a bigger ball, bring the fences in 100 ft, play even if it rains, implement a time clock, stop drug testing, expand to Alaska, Hawaii and Chicago, implement a ROVER position and at least 3 pitches per inning must be underhand.

Not sure if would work, but why not some kind of clock like the nba - some sort of time limit that a pitch has to be thrown? Might eliminate a lot of the between pitches crap. They should also reduce the number of times the catcher and/or infielders can visit the mound. Because I play daily fantasy, I still follow the game, but the only time I might watch more than a few innings is during the playoffs.

I know there's a lot of rumblings about some sort of pitch clock and it actually being enforced.. It's a start.

I used to love baseball. I hate it now. Just woke up one day and said this sport sucks. And I hate betting on it. I couldn't beat baseball if my life depended on it, and just have no interest anymore.

Only problem with that is it's usually the hitter calling time or stepping out that drags the shit out.
