the young(21-23) stupid drinking, being retarded, some what having fun with friends or what not. The young professional(23-33) looking to score some tail(male) or show tail(female) all having a good time...........then there's the complete DEGENERATE! And 80% of all in a casino fall in this category. It finally hit me today, I'm not getting younger and the "good ole days" are gone:neenee:

The casino crowd seems much more "normal" then some other forms of gambling.. Horse players the breakdown is like 99% degenerate

I haven't been to a casino in 6 months. I'm over 33. Guess I'm a degenerate whenever I set foot in one.

You guys set the bar too high.

Some of us don't need a casino to be called a "degenerate".

I see two types. Those there having fun and those there expecting to make a big score every time and they're usually pretty damn miserable.

I used to be the later, but I know better now. I used to go much more often, I used to gamble a lot more, and that's when I couldn't afford to do so.

Now I'm more about having fun, having a great meal and seeing some good entertainment. Although I still gamble a decent amount and I play to win, I never have a sleepless night or wonder how I'm going to cover my losses or cover my losses up

Ha ha..very true. A group of us took a limo bus down to the New Orleans horse track last summer. We were ushered right up into the high roller area (not sure what they call it but it has televisions at the tables, they serve food, is enclosed and sit way up high over the track).

After a while the wife and I wanted to go down and see the staging area for the horses...we went down through a couple of different areas which were pretty scary. We ultimately walked through an area which was full of toothless, dirty, bearded, Salvation Army clothed degenerates. It was quite the treat, but there were more people in this area laying $1 and $2 bets than anywhere else in the whole place.

I've seen some of the hottest woman I've ever seen in my life at casino's (most were going to a club or something)....dressed to the 9's! Fucking unreal woman!

The last several times I've gambled I've lost my ass (mostly blackjack or craps). It really soured my desire to do anything other than sports betting. I don't mind losing at a casino, but when I walk up, buy in, lose 9 out of 10 hands (played perfectly) it's really no fun. I went to AC a few weeks ago and played for 3 hours and walked away up $3. It was hilarious. I was down $200 and came back...so that was fun. But as I've gotten older I'm like Willie99, I just do it occasionally now and only play a minimal amount.

I mostly walk around the casino. Never play casino games. Go straight to poker room.

From what I see, poker players are the worst species at a casino. Every time I go I encounter the same folks I did 4 years ago. I find the following poker player types:

The local "pro": In a country so small as Costa Rica is, there is almost no such thing but there are some folks that do, support themselves by only playing or at least doing it part time. This includes some great businessman that don't depend on wins or losses to maintain a lifestyle because they are filthy rich. These are the most dangerous ones sometimes, as they really don't care and don't have emotions when winning or losing. Cold as ice.

The foreign "pro": Well, I often see these guys playing... Americans, Canadians, Colombians, Cubans, Argentinians, British players act like they are Daniel Negreanu and brag about poker strategy and huge games they've played before, I usually never buy it because as fast as they start playing I can tell they can't be that good. Obviously there are guys that are the real deal, but I failed to meet them at the limit I play ($1-$1 NLHE).

The grumpy old man: Ex-business man, doctors, lawyers, retired old folks that have a daily limit to lose but they seem to be able to lose EVERYDAY. They usually have a cap (100-400 BB's) they rebuy the minimum (20 BB's) and always call, always fold; never raise! They get sudden rage attacks at the dealer or a random player that hasn't even made a buck out of him.

The female player: Very good, very aggressive. When they are on a roll they seem unstoppable but they do seem to overplay their cards sometimes when put to the test often and I feel is because the become self aware that they are women and are most likely being bullied every hand so they start re raising and bluffing away many chips.

The trophy wife: This chicks know the basics but they are there to please their man and have some fun, they don't count odds or calculate percentages, they are not observant of the players when not involved in a hand and they are usually 2 drinks away of being drunk.

They "online pro" wannabe:Full poker apparel, patched sweater with online site or live tournament advertisement. Shades and a cap. And the poker face that goes with it... They seem to have money, they usually buy in large (80-100 BB's) but they are easily dominated by the grinders. They visit occasionally to play live and probably play small stake cash games or tourneys online 3-4 times a week.

The grinders: They know what's to win big and lose big. They know both sides of the road and live and adjust accordingly. Even if this kind of player has spent 2 years without hitting the felt, they never forget the daily grind. They feel like home at the table as they've spent there 24 hours straight before. Usually raise, rarely call, implied odds are taking into account for every pot and they usually wait and look to play 1-2 big hands per hour. These are usually the 20%-30% of the table.

The loud mouth: They want everyone to acknowledge how good they are. They give away so much by trash talking at the table is just mesmerizing. Yes they might be grinders but these are the grinders that usually lose more than they win. One of the easiest players to exploit, the ones that measure their dick size by not folding and keep talking.

In general, casino players at the slots, blackjack, craps and roulette are a funnier crowd and less vicious. There are many occasional gamblers in the casino. Not so much in the poker room. And the women are fuckin hot. I have a thing for a lot of casino cocktail waitresses.

Many of these girls have a "price list". They don't hand them out. "What the traffic will bear!"

All forms of gambling are very dangerous. The post about the elderly people being overlooked.... True. They were overlooked years ago during the discussions about approving riverboats. People were afraid off organized crime and this, that, and the other. Don't remember much mention talk of smokin' ole granny's ass out of her minimal social security check. Hell...... senior communities take a bus and call that recreation?

All in all, I feel there are these two types of people who gamble......

1) DEGENERATES

2) Every other person..... Casino corporations are doing EVERYTHING in their power to convert all these people into degenerates.... and then proceed to impoverish them!
