In essence both are very similar but sports betting is viewed negatively. But if you take a closer look sports betting is far better than stock market.

- Government does everything to stigmatize sports betting because it is harder for them to collect tax from this type of trading.

- Sports betting has a lot of degenerate gamblers who bet everything on a game and because of that it is considered gambling and not a good investment. However, a pro trade who treats sports betting as long term investment has proper money management where you bet only 2 to 3% of your bankroll on a game. The pro trader will not win from one big winner or from staking large on odds on favorites but by consistently beating the market over 100’s of bets.

Personally, I think the stock market is way less volatile than sports betting. The money management part is the key, as you mentioned, and even though stocks go up-and-down each day (i.e. could have losing days, like at the sportsbook), there is far less of a desire to "chase" so to speak. My $0.02. Definitely takes some great discipline to win trading sports over trading stocks

It might be true for an investor with over 50k bankroll. Lets say an investor has under 50k...or even under 10k, then stockmarket is pointless because it would take for ever to actually see profit unless you get real lucky. So most stock investors with small bank, usually go for penny or low priced stocks that are volatile. If you know what you are doing in sports betting, it is far more profitable than stock market. Stock market is a sham most of the time with all the insider trading. Facebook ipo was one big example. Tons of people lost a lot of money while that ipo company pocketed tons....sad thing is that most of those people panicked sold the stock at much lower price and facebook is now back up.
