I've listed some head coaches who are on what's know as the "Hot Seat." In other words, these coaches need to produce this year or could find themselves unemployed. You may disagree with some on this list and welcome that disagreement. Coaches going into the 2014 season with a hot butt.

Will Muschamp, Florida (22-16, 3 yrs)
Charlie Weis, Kansas (4-20, 2 yrs)
Mike London, Virginia (18-31, 4 yrs)
Tim Beckman, Illinois (6-18, 2 yrs)
Ron Turner, FIU (1-11, 1yr.)
Kyle Flood, Rutgers (15-11, 2 yrs)
Norm Chow, Hawaii (4-20, 2 yrs)
Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia (21-17, 3 yrs)
Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech (47-32, 6 yrs)
Dan Enos, Central Michigan (19-30, 4 yrs)
Brady Hoke, Michigan (26-13, 3 yrs)

Could be others...feel free to list them.

My vote would go to Norm Chow, Hawaii. Chow has struggled to get the program on track and faces an uphill battle this season to get better. The 13 game schedule includes Washington, Oregon State and Colorado of the Pac 12, a road trip to Rice and conference road games at San Diego State, Colorado State and Fresno State. I think Chow is in for another poor season.

A close second is Kansas' Charlie Weise. With 17 returning starters, ole Charlie is running out of excuses. I'm a believer that he is simply not head coaching material. He proved that while at Notre Dame.

Welcome your comments...............................

If Muschamp pulls off 8-4 or better he's likely retained....especially if the offense improves dramatically.

My guess is Holgersen will be canned first. Followed by London. If Charlie makes it through the season that'll be a shock too.

I think Paul Johnson & Flood are safe.

ALL of these coaches should have already been canned. The only possible exception would be Muschamp because of the injuries he had to deal with last year. But after a couple national championships Florida's standards are higher. So I think this is a do or die season for him. Paul Johnson's offense is WAY outdated and doesn't work well anymore because the blue chip recruits don't want to play in that kind of offense. A 50% average pass completion rate year after year doesn't cut it. Throwing the ball only 8x per game isn't going to attract any receivers that have NFL aspirations. Johnson does a decent job for what he has on hand. The question is how satisfied is their fanbase with 8-5 or 7-6 seasons? Weis? LOL..I can see a basketball school like Kansas hiring him. But what the hell was Notre Dame thinking in hiring a guy with no college or pro head coaching experience, and then giving him a huge long term contract? I don't get it. I think you should add Pelini to the list. I think the Husker fan base is just waiting for this guy to screw up and have a 6-6 type of season. If that happens he is as good as gone...

What's ironic is that 2 of the best receivers in the NFL(Calvin Johnson and Demarious Thomas) are from Georgia Tech, albeit Megatron pre-dated Johnson's recruiting tenure at G-tech. Don't they have another one as well on the Jets? Its hard to tell playing in such a wasteland as that, but I think there is another one as out there.

I'd say Holgersen's days are numbered for sure. What a horrible idea for them to join them BIG 12 and make that road trip is ridiculous. All the conference shuffling has ruined the CFB game.

Agree the conference realignment has fucked up CFB. IMO, the biggest threat to CFB is "paying players". I'm so sick of that bangwagon and those who support it. I've got one thing for all those idiots: Title IX.

Holgersen and Charlie Smorgasborg. But Weis must have the greatest agent in the world. Notre Dame still has to pay him the remainder of his contract through 2015. And Kansas doesn't have a buyout either. His contract is roughly $2.5 million a year. So if fired after year 3, they would still owe him $5 million for the next 2 years. So Charlie's agent is really good at getting him a great contract. They've got it down pretty good. Get a guaranteed contract and then get fired. That way your getting double paychecks for your next job. Rinse and repeat until people finally catch on. And like I said before, Holgersen is as good as gone if he has another losing season. That loss to Kansas last year to break their 3 year Big 12 losing streak had to chap the asses of a lot of Mountaineer donors.

I see that you found a list with Sonny Dykes on it. At least somebody thought about him. I would put Sonny Dykes somewhere in the middle of that. The Cal Bears are now the official cellar dweller of the Pac. He has found a few recruits who are decent athletes so there is a chance he will last 3 years. (2 to go) They win 3-4 games this season and maybe he gets one more year before he's canned. (1-11 LY) His seat is already warming up and the Alumni are grumbling. They have sparkling new facilities in Berkeley but Dykes is completely outclassed.

Is Kansas really in a position to fire another coach? I mean, its Kansas and they are a basketball school. They should have never fired Mangino if they wanted to keep winning. I guess at this point they should find a young up and coming coach from the MAC or other small conference and give him a whole lotta rope, but they don't seem to have the patience for that. If I were a taxpayer from Kansas it would piss me off if they have all these coaches still on the payroll.

Tennessee ain't going to beat Florida this year. Straight up I'll give anyone 2 to 1. Max 500 dollars.

That's already been tried with Turner Gill. The problem is no coach that's worth a damn wants to coach at a basketball school that is a football doormat. They would have to pay them a hell of a lot of money. And after this latest Weis fiasco I'm not sure KU is willing to pay it.

It was a nice gimmick when Paul Johnson first arrived here that caught people off-guard at first plus he had Chan's players.......Vad Lee was supposed to be the answer as fans here would be like imagine if Georgia Tech could throw the ball great (the Bay-Bay Thomas days), but even he got tired of this offense.....The investment in Al Groh was a bad one due to his 3-4 defense just like Georgia with Grantham's 3-4 and in my opinion both of those coaches and schemes were holding both Georgia schools from advancing to another level......As far as Georgia Tech they need better recruits and Paul Johnson is not exactly a charismatic guy (more stubborn, but that is just who he is)....But in general Georgia Tech is just a bully school that runs up the score on inferior opponents and then collapses when teams with a decent defensive line and defense can blow up their Triple Option...

Some GTECH alumni have told me they were actually hoping Georgia would fire Mark Richt a few years ago so GTECH could get him while making a nice offer since he can recruit the state well plus he could get revenge on Georgia for firing him as Richt usually beats GTECH each year...

Charlie Strong does not fall in this category, too much money invested. But....if they lose to BYU and UCLA and start the season off at 1-2 there will be a deafening hum emitted from Austin. Imagine if they then lost back to back to Baylor and Oklahoma and were halfway thru the season at 2-4. OMG. And they would still have to play back to back at Kansas St and Texas Tech and finish off against Oklahoma St and TCU. If they make it thru all that then Strong was worth every penny. If they finish no better than 8-5 then they are still back on square one.
