Anyone else worried they will NOT be getting the SEC Network?

My provider (DirecTv) has been unable to come to an agreement thus far with ESPN. I'm guessing their pending merger with ATT will not help the negotiations. That merger will not be approved until 2015 so I just wonder if DirecTv has slightly less incentive to get a deal done than they otherwise would have.

Comcast also has yet to reach a deal but I have seen articles indicating that they are near a deal which should mean they are at least having productive negotiations. DirecTv has been silent.

Im gonna switch providers shortly if I don't hear anything. Unfortunately, Uterve TV is not available at my address.

Is Dish Network decent enough? I know most sports fans prefer Direct but is Dish good enough to join?

There's only 1 thing that stop most sports fans from switching to Dish Network, the NFL ticket which DirecTV has a monopoly on the games except for the red zone........

I gotta have NFL ticket, had it since 1997 & its awesome! NFL season is not fun w/o it.

Matters only which (NFL or SEC) has us brainwashed the most. Both are trying as hard as they can. SEC closest thing to NFL in the NCAA.

Johnny Boy Cleveland will soon find out that the NFL is a bit bigger jump than he thinks it is. This might make the Joe Theismann hit look like Sponge Bob.

Yeah, I really like Sunday Ticket but I cannot live without the SEC.

Unless DirectTv comes to an agreement in the next week or so, I'm switching to Dish. I can't imagine how many subscribers Direct will lose if they don't carry the network.

I could care less if I get the SEC Network, and hope whatever happens they make the channel a pay channel for those that want it.

ESPN has made it clear in the negotiations that it is not a "pay for" channel. Any provider who agrees to carry the SEC Network must include it in the same package of channels that also carries ESPNU. So if your channel package includes ESPNU, you will also get the SEC Network (assuming obviously your provider has come to an agreement to carry the SEC Network).

And i I don't blame you for caring less. If/when they come out with a Big East channel or American Athletic channel, I won't care about it either but I imagine most in your region would be angry if their provider didn't carry it.

That depends on how much exposure the AAC gets on cable. I can watch most high profile (and mid profile) SEC Football games on CBS or ESPN, I dont know what I would need from the SEC Network. I have Directtv, this better not give them a reason to jack up my bill some more!

I'm more upset that the Pac-12 network isn't on Directv. ESPN will make sure the SEC Network gets on.

The thing that pisses me off is i keep getting these updates on my facebook (from espn) to call my provider and demand the sec network. ...but when i call my cable companty they say espn has not made it available to them. ... they say they dont have a secret button to push that espn has to make it available to them.

So its like the chicken and the egg . Espn says call your cable company and the cable company says espn has not made it available to them.

This is epic fail by somebody.

ESPN wants DTV to offer it at no charge to us, but they still want to get paid by DTV for the channel. DTV wants to charge for the channel which ESPN doesnt want because they wont make as much money if the consumer can actually decide if they want the channel. Its the same thing everytime.

I watch most college games on ESPN.com, I follow the scores, that's good enough for me but NFL is seen on TV with 8 games at once........

Most important sec games are always televised on ESPN anyway or did I miss a meeting?

as long as I have the AAC network :)

I haven't given the SEC network much thought, but I assume I can pay extra for it if I want it

I have Directv but they piss me off. I just got my renewal for the NFL ticket and they raised it this year to $330. Every fucking year they raise the price. It is bullshit and I am going to tell them to fuck off this year. I love the NFL ticket but I am tired of taking it up the ass from them. If I don't get the SEC network, I will tell them to take their shit out of my house and I will be done with them.
