There are other "old timers" on this forum and they will back me up on this

You youngins' have no idea how big the MLB All Star game was back in the 60s & 70s. Maybe even the 80s.

Back when there was only 1 MLB game on per week? The MLB All Star game was HUGE. HUGE.

And it was special.

I love baseball and even I basically click on it for just a few minutes at a time.

It was huge, I tell ya.

True statement. Remember Monday Night Baseball on ABC before the days of ESPN, Fox or even TBS?

Yes I do. Basically sports on TV were (was?) special. Geez, the NBA finals were on tape delay. I have a friend clean up on a game. He walked in to one of our fav spots just as the Lakers and ??? were coming on. Some guy at the bar started spouting off how so and so was gonna get killed. Well the dumb ass didn't know the game had already happened and my pal had heard the final score on his car radio. East money.

Not to mention the novelty of watching NL vs AL back in the day, when players from the two leagues only faced each other twice a year.

Another relic: for a few years, there were 2 All Star Games. This went on for at least 5 years.
