Expect a reliable attempt with the class drop. LACHISPADELAVIDA - Looks formidable versus this group and will probably be one of the front-runners. This entrant has been consistently running well lately.

YES SHE'S A DANCER - You don't need to look any further. This horse has my money. Way too much early speed. Looking at today's class figure, this thoroughbred is meeting an easier field than last out at Santa Anita. MOTOR'N MONA - Last race out on Jun 26th was a good tune-up for today. Got decent betting action in that one, but finished fifth. Expect better right here. This filly should improve after adding Lasix in the last race and getting it again today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 CHAMPION RISK (ML=3/1), #5 I HEART YOU (ML=7/2), #7 VOW ME OVER (ML=6/1),

CHAMPION RISK - This runner didn't go to the front end and didn't make up ground in the lane last time she ran. Don't believe this less than sharp equine will do much running today. That last speed rating was run-of-the-mill when compared with today's Equibase class figure. I HEART YOU - Trying to beat this participant this time at the price of 7/2. VOW ME OVER - This vulnerable equine will likely be at the back of the pack as this group crosses the wire.

(7) QUADROPHENIA will look to rebound following last week's disappointing effort. She has the speed, comes from a top barn and is a three-time winner this season. (3) DIAMONDS FOR LIFE is a top play if she can mind her manners. (4) FASHION TAGMAN won last week in this class, draws inside and has excellent gate-speed.

Race 2

(7) JOKES JET comes from the McNair barn and faces easier competition after dropping out of the Canadian Breeders. (2) MEA LILLEY MARK draws inside and has been knocking on the door as of late. (8) SAM has a patented late kick and shouldn't get overlooked for the triactor. Quick speed on the front will only increase her chances.

Race 3

(2) PROTEGE SEELSTER draws inside, comes from the Johnson barn and won last week in this class. (3) HOLY MOLIE MAGGIE has hit the board in each of her last four starts. (7) DESIGNER GENES comes from the Gallucci barn, has hit the board in each of her last two and is always a threat at this level.

(5) SEASIDE RORY gets major class relief, comes from the Gillis barn and showed a much improved effort last week. (10) HAT TRICK HONEY is capable of overcoming post 10 and has been racing at her best in recent weeks. (6) DREAMFAIR ECLIPSE was pacing hard last week at the wire and has a good overall record this season.

(2) STRONG HOPE draws inside and has a hard-closing fourth last week in this class. He might offer a price in this wide-open contest. (3) MIDFIELD MAGIC has been racing much better as of late, draws well and is capable of the class hike. (4) SANTO DOMINGO has some back class to offer and gets Waples aboard.

(6) A FILLY AFFAIR has been a perfect two-for-two since adding lasix. (3) POLK DOT HANOVER draws inside and drops out of the Town Pro Series. (7) RIVETING is fresh off a win, has gate-speed and might offer a fair price.

(4) REQUEST FOR PAROLE will add lasix to her program for trainer Johnson. She has the speed and draws inside. (7) ST LADS PEEPER comes from the Moreau barn and has been a main threat at this level for many weeks. (8) HOPE FOR PADDY has flying at the end of last week’s mile with a :27 final quarter. She's been much better in her last two and comes from the Montini barn.

(7) BET YA has been a consistent performer as of late and bodes as a top threat in this field. (1) MURRAYFIELD draws inside and is fresh off a win for trainer Wallace. (10) DANA DEAREST has the speed and will need to overcome post 10.

(8) A REAL COMMITMENT has been racing terrific this season, comes from the Johnson barn and has a terrific on-the-board record. (4) RUBIS PRESCOTT entered the Nixon barn last start and scored in a career best time. (10) SOLID QUEEN shipped onto this circuit last week and was a game second. She has quick gate-speed and is a top threat once again.

(5) VOELZ HANOVER won last week in this event, has over $1.5 million of back class and is capable of repeating. (3) D GS PESQUERO has a terrific on-the-board record this season and comes from the Moreau camp. (4) REBEKA BAYAMA will look for a better effort. She has the speed and back class in her favour.

(1) BAROCKEY draws inside, has some back class and comes from the Auciello barn. (8) MARINADE HANOVER disappointed as the favourite last week in this class and will look to rebound. (4) JEREMEYS JEWEL hit the board last week in this class, draws well and should provide a high price.

AMERICAN REIGN - I think this gelding is very ready right now. I like the fact that Hartman brings him back to a race so quickly. Not much speed in this race other than this steed. VISONS AND DREAMS - That last effort must not have been too hard on this gelding for him to be able to race again so quickly. Looking at today's class rating, this pony is meeting an easier field than in the last race at Prairie Mdws. Past Performances show this pony with 3 improving speed figures. Mello should be on a horse ready to go in this event. I like the hard fact that this gelding's last rating, 71, is tops in this group. GUTSHOT - Thompson was aboard this gelding in the last race and was impressed enough to take the animal right back.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CIELO FIVE (ML=6/1), #4 WISKEY N' CLYDE (ML=8/1),

CIELO FIVE - Granted the last race was nice, finishing second. The lack of any recent activity raises some concerns though. Run-of-the-mill speed figure last race out at Prairie Mdws at 6 furlongs. Don't believe this racer will improve too much in today's event. WISKEY N' CLYDE - Tough to put your money on the win end of any racer that finishes second and third as regularly as this horse does.

Well folks ... if you enjoy a little Thoroughbred Racing History to accompany your handicapping efforts here on opening day here at Saratoga, this race which was first run in 1918, The Schuylerville is named for a town located 12 miles east of Saratoga Springs in upstate New York. Schuylerville was the country home of General Philip Schuyler, who served as a member of the Continental Congress until he was appointed a Major General of the Continental Army in June, 1775. In command of the Northern Department, Schuyler planned the Invasion of Canada and was active in preparing a defense against the Saratoga Campaign, part of the British strategy to cut the American Colonies in two by invading and occupying New York State in 1777. Here in the 96th running of this graded stakes event, #4 FASHION ALERT, takes a class drop (-3), is the overall speed and pace profile leader in this field, and comes off a maiden-breaking, "POWER RUN WIN" in her "first asking." and will be feeling that "LASIX LIFT" this afternoon for the 2nd time today. #2 TULIRA'S STAR, also has a nice pace profile, and like my top pick in this race, comes off a maiden-breaking, "POWER RUN WIN" in her respective, "first asking!"

Race 1

(1) I'M FABULOUS hasn't raced much lately but did qualify back well. Veteran mare looks like a standout in this amateur event. (2) CURRENT CRISIS comes off a string of third-place finishes and has raced well over the big track here. (5) WHATNBLAZES & (4) NOWERLAND NATHAN have early speed and are capable given the right trip.

Race 2

(1A) GIFTED WAY & (1B) CANEPA HANOVER were high priced yearlings that have already exhibited speed on the track. As part of a three-horse entry they appear impossible to pick against. (4) WHEELS AH SMOKIN swept from the back in his pari-mutuel debut. (6) MOUNTAIN TOP raced well in the NJ Sire Stakes final.

Race 3

(6) ROCKINGCAM PARK took some time off and started back a bit over her head in the Mistletoe Shalee. This non-winners race should suit her just fine. (2) BLIXTRA is off a blowout win; using. (5) EASTER SURPRIZE has been racing well lately.

Race 4

(7) LOCK DOWN LINDY was let loose in her last qualifier and she certainly shined. I'm expecting a nice mile from her on Friday. (6) SARCY was okay in her career debut and finished with broken equipment last time. (5) ARMATRADING, (2) JOLENE JOLENE & (1) HOT START have each shown enough to merit consideration at least underneath.

Race 5

(8) RAY HALL drops into a soft spot and should take charge. (3) BROADWAY ROCKS comes off a pair of decent efforts. (2) CHARMING DREAM was David Miller's choice. (9) UPFRONTSTRIKESGOLD lost Miller but still has enough form to compete.

Race 6

(4) MASTER OF LAW charged home like the Flash in his recent qualifier, his first start since the barn change to Jimmy Takter. Perhaps the Hall of Fame conditioner has this guy straightened out. (7) ROYALTY FOR LIFE was taken out in his 2014 debut. Hambo winner should be tough in this spot. (2) SWEET JUSTICE picked up his game against lesser. Let's see if he can build on that effort.

Race 7

(2) CLEAR VIEW HANOVER is capable of going some nice miles and seems to be rounding into form after winter break. (6) MACHAROUNDTHECLOCK was in a bit tougher last week. Mare has early speed and should be a presence from the start. (3) CAROLSIDEAL is always capable with a decent trip.

Race 8

(7) WORLD CUP gets a new driver and class relief. The combination should be the perfect wakeup call. (2) UPFRONT BILLY is another stepping down the class ladder; consider. (1) LOLA DE VIE romped in a C-2 and now tries her luck at a higher level. (4) HILLUSTRIOUS has displayed some ability but will need a bigger effort versus this group.

Race 9

(2) EXQUISITE GLIDE raced okay versus some stiff competition in his recent qualifier. New trainer Tony Alagna seems to have him moving in the right direction. (1) SCREAM AND SHOUT gets some major class relief; using. (4) DEJATIERO adds Miller and didn't look that bad to begin with.

Race 10

(4) TIME TO QUIT has been keeping better company at Yonkers and returns to New Jersey against the basement level conditioned foes. He really should perk up against this group. (2) VIDA DE VIE has been getting good checks and finds herself in the right spot to perhaps pick up more. (6) CATHY'S PRINCESS comes off an open-length score at Pocono.

Race 11

(1A) MISTERY WOMAN came up flat late in her first start with hobbles but stayed on stride. That is a step in the right direction. (5) PERFECT ALLIANCE was perfect prior to her last two starts. Friday will tell plenty about where she is right now. On paper she should win easily; adds Lasix. (1) MA CHERE HALL is the second part of the entry. Either could score if on their games. (2) HANDOVER BELLE knows how to step up with a big mile.

Race 12

(1) NUNKERI proved game in her first career start and the will to win is always a good quality. (8) CRAZY BEAUTIFUL looked good in the morning for Alagna. (4) LADY CLARABELLA stayed flat with hobbles added.

Race 13

(2) MAGGLIO hasn't been racing well but is in a prime spot. (4) THE NORTHERN DUDE was a decent third in his first start since April. (10) MCKENZIE'S STAR might be the one to beat with a better post. (5) KEYSTONE WYATT has some early speed.
