KEY STAT: Sligo have won only one of their last six league fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: Limerick slumped to a 3-0 defeat at bottom side Athlone Town in their last league outing, but a two-week break may have re-energised them and Sligo look short enough in the betting. The hosts have acquitted themselves well in Europa League qualifying but their league form has suffered and this match could be tighter than the market suggests.

RECOMMENDATION: No goalscorer

KEY STAT: Randers didn't allow their opponents a single shot on target in their last Superliga fixture

EXPERT VERDICT: Both these sides kicked off their Danish Superliga campaigns with victory last week. Newly promoted Hobro stunned Odense with their late winner, but they face a sterner task against an experienced Randers backline. The home side will be vying for a European spot and should have enough.

RECOMMENDATION: Randers

KEY STAT: Sonderjyske conceded 53 goals in the Danish Superliga last season

EXPERT VERDICT: Esbjerg opened up with an extremely sluggish performance against Randers last week, seemingly suffering from their 4000-mile round trip to Kazakhstan for a Europa League qualifier. Presuming they have sufficiently recovered, they have enough quality to see off an unspectacular Sonderjyske side who only just avoided relegation last season.

RECOMMENDATION: Esbjerg

KEY STAT: Silkeborg scored an impressive 67 goals on the way to the Danish second-tier title last year

EXPERT VERDICT: Silkeborg made an impressive start to their campaign by holding title favourites FC Copenhagen to a draw last week and are capable of frustrating Brondby with a similar performance. The second-favourites for the Superliga title were convincingly beaten at Midtjylland last week and look set for another stern test.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

DRF HARNESS

Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 97 - 300 / $548.00 BEST BETS: 15 - 23 / $52.40

Best Bet: DREAMS BEACHBOY (3rd)

Spot Play: MARKET SHARE (7th)

Race 1

(4) MIGHTY YOUNG JOE paces a good mile every week and now gets a bit of class relief. He has a big chance of getting his first win of the summer. (8) IDEAL MAGIC was in tough last time but raced much better. If he minds his manners he could certainly score. (5) ROCKNROLL REALITY has posted a string of credible efforts. (6) DAVID’S DREAM hung a bit last time but adds Gingras.

Race 2

(3) SAWYER hasn’t shown much against a nice-looking youngster in JK Shesalady, but really doesn’t tackle the toughest field in the world tonight. I’ll take a shot. (4) SHE’S A HOT MESS has improved in the morning and seems to have some ability. (10) WICKED LITTLE MINX raced very well two starts back and broke last time. Sometimes you have to toss out a start and look at the bigger picture.

Race 3

(1) DREAMS BEACHBOY only won by a length but couldn’t have been driven more confidently in his most recent qualifier. This $150,000 yearling buy is one to watch. (6) BATTLE CRUISER closed nicely in an easier spot last week and could be ready to step up. (9) WESTERN PIONEER failed in a tough spot last time. This assignment is easier.

Race 4

This is a hard race to handicap with 9 of the 10 starters coming back next week to race for much more money. (2A) SOMWHEROVRARAINBOW & (2) SHEBESTINGIN form a strong entry with a pair of good posts to work with; edge. (7) DROP THE BALL is coming into form and could be a prime win candidate in next week’s final. (1B) ANNDROVETTE is stuck with an outside post and may be raced conservatively.

Race 5

(5) LIFETIME PURSUIT was parked every step of the mile from post 10 last time and flattened after a final turn bid. There is no reason to think she isn’t as good as the likely favorites. (4) COOLER SCHOONER is always a candidate to step up with a monster mile. Trainer Campbell switches drivers in search of a better effort. (2) DESIGNED TO BE got locked in most recently and that certainly cost her. I fear she will be overbet. (3) SHAKE IT CERRY races well every week; must use.

Race 6

I find this to be one of the more difficult races on the card to figure. I have major reservations on whether Captaintreacherous and Sweet Lou will be forwardly placed racing for $40K one week before a rich final. I’m going to roll the dice with (5) THINKING OUT LOUD. The 5-year-old was solid two starts back and made a huge move in his last race before tiring. I think he is sitting on a big effort if given the right trip. (7) SWEET LOU has been unstoppable lately and will be very tough to beat if forwardly placed. (6) CAPTAINTREACHEROUS could potentially come away last in here if the connections decide to race him off a helmet; capable but comes with questions.

Race 7

(1) MARKET SHARE got clear too late in last week’s Maple Leaf final. Former Hambo winner seems to be moving in the right direction and I’m guessing Tetrick will be aggressive with a chance to pick his post in the final. (7) ROYALTY FOR LIFE makes his third start back from winter vacation and should be nearing his top form. (2) YOUR SO VAIN was super in his 4-year-old debut but doesn’t have a lot of speed and it is hard to pass the top trotters in the country. (4) INTIMIDATE has a clear shot but I need to see more before backing him.

Race 8

(5) ETHAN HANOVER put in a big mile winning from post 10 last week and lured Campbell off some other strong options. (3) SEEK THE DRAGON adds Tetrick off a sharp effort and should be forwardly placed. (6) JINS DRAGON made a big move to the front and posted the fastest preliminary time last week; big chance. (4) JOHNNY Z raced well despite an uncovered trip.

Race 9

(3) PERSPECTIVE makes his first start since October but lucked into the perfect spot. There is no reason he can’t score at first asking for top trainer Alagna. (5) LET’S FOAL AROUND gets a nice driver change to Callahan and should improve some. (1) ROCKEYED OPTIMIST should stick close from the cones and get a big piece.

Race 10

(9) MATTADOR D raced well from off the pace last week and I still recall some other good efforts he has put in here. Gingras in the bike is a nice plus against this non-descript group. (1) ALEX BULLVILLE is better than his last effort and should be aggressive from the cones. (7) CAVIART KEY adds Tetrick off a decent mile.

Race 11

(5) SEBASTIAN K hit a bump in the road last week when he got nipped at the wire on a sloppy surface some are saying isn’t his favorite condition. This elimination came up as the lighter of the two and I’d expect him to get right back to the winner’s circle. (3) SWEET JUSTICE is very sharp now and only needs a decent trip to be a major player. (1) MISTER HERBIE has a quartet of start under his belt this year. If he is going to get underway, now seems to be the logical time.

Race 12

(5) IAM BONASERA charged home last week but got underway a tad too late. This is a shorter field and he should be closer to the action. (7) DOVUTO HANOVER drops way down and is a must use on every ticket. (8) URGENT ACTION usually races well in this class. (1) HILLBILLY HANOVER has a chance if on his game.

Race 13

(1) DON’T BLAME HER raced well last week from an impossible spot. She draws inside this time and adds Sears. (6) ELLEOFNXAMPLE looks like the one to beat off a strong performance. (5) LET HER ROCK bested a much easier group last time but certainly figures in here. (2) BALLINEEN adds Gingras this time.

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: STATE TREASURER (10th)

Spot Play: DRAIN DADDY (7th)

Race 1

(2) NICKLE BAG remains at the same level as last week, but draws inside and gets Condren in the bike. (5) MICHAELS POWER finally put his 'A' game together with a victory last week for trainer Casie Coleman at a lower level. (7) UP THE CREDIT has been racing much better in his last two starts compared to prior outings this season

Race 2

(1) SHAMBALLA has been turning some heads on the WEG Circuit in recent weeks with his pair of romping victories for trainer/driver Rick Zeron. (2) MELMERBY BEACH has been pacing a number of speedy miles this season and often provides quick final quarter speed, which has been displayed in each of his last three starts. (5) TAURANGA is a logical option for the triactor based on his record this season for trainer Tony O'Sullivan.

Race 3

(9) BOOGIE WOOGIE hasn't raced since June 9, which is a concern, but gets class relief and was competing at the Preferred condition just four starts ago. (5) P L DALEY comes from the Tony Montini barn, draws in the middle of the gate and was a winner two starts back at Hiawatha Horse Park. (3) ORDER BY COMMANDER draws inside this week and gets Jody Jamieson in the bike.

Race 4

(6) REQUEST FOR PAROLE added lasix to her program last week, comes from the Corey Johnson barn and remains at this same class. (5) FOOLISH MIND has hit the board in three of her last four starts, shows the speed required and draws in the middle of the gate. (1) ITS NO SECRET has been a constant threat in recent weeks for trainer Shawn Robinson and gets the rail this week.

Race 5

(7) CHARMED LIFE put forth her quickest performance of her career last start for trainer David Menary as the Majestic Son miss finished second, beaten by a neck, in 1:51 1/5, with a sizzling :25 4/5 final quarter. (9) WHISKEY TAX has been much better since dropping out of the Preferred class as the son of Revenue S has posted a first and second-place finish in each of his last two starts in this class. (10) WINDSONG GEANT is fresh off a win last week after making a break and used a :26 3/5 sizzling final quarter.

Race 6

(8) JDS CALEB MAN was a winner two back, by a head, in this class and continues to be a top candidate. (1) RAVE ON draws inside, comes from the Corey Johnson barn and has finished second in each of his last two starts in this class. (7) FOREGO THE CIGAR moves into the Dean Nixon barn following the claim last week, draws better and has a terrific late kick at the end of the mile.

Race 7

(1) DRAIN DADDY gets the rail this week in his favour along with major class relief, which is likely a key ingredient for a better effort. (2) MYSTICIAN is approaching $1.9 million in career earnings, comes from the Jeff Gillis barn and raced well last week over a sloppy track. (4) WORLD AWAY finally draws inside after a pair of outside post positions and drops in class for trainer Des Tackoor.

Race 8

(7) CHAMPAGNE PHIL has been a consistent threat in this class for many weeks as the son of Shanghai Phil has hit the board in four of his last five starts at this level. (2) JJ SHARK dropped in class last week, offered a low price and failed to put forth a solid effort with Tim Tetrick aboard. (3) GRIN FOR MONEY has a patented late kick and an inside post in a short field, which only makes me like his chances that much more.

Race 9

(6) UNABATING went a tough trip in his latest and finished fifth, but now drops in class into a more suitable level. (2) MIDFIELD MAGIC has been using his gate-speed in his last two starts and draws well once again this week for trainer/driver Roger Mayotte. (5) O U SEXY GUY had a mini vacation and qualified well on July 8 with a 1:58 winning qualifier.

Race 10

(8) STATE TREASURER was timed in 1:47 3/5 in his most recent start at The Meadowlands in the Haughton and that makes him the horse to beat in this class as he returns home. (5) ELLIS PARK captured this event last week and begins from another good starting spot. (4) CAPTIVE AUDIENCE comes from the Corey Johnson barn and was a game second last week in this class.

Race 11

(1) LIGHTS GO OUT might have the quickest closing speed of any pacing mare on this circuit and is fresh off a win at the Fillies & Mares Preferred last week. (3) PRECOCIOUS BEAUTY has paced back-to-back sub 1:50 miles at The Meadowlands and returns home to this circuit and draws inside. (7) AMERICAN IN PARIS has hit the board in each of her last three starts in the Fillies & Mares Preferred, comes from the Brethour barn and is a logical option for the triactor.

Race 12

(7) RESISTANCE FUTILE has all kinds of speed to offer, but has been lacking the 'knockout punch' late in the mile. (2) ALEXIE MATTOSIE draws inside, drops in class and is approaching $1 million in career earnings. (3) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE also drops in class for trainer Richard Moreau and finally gets post relief after a pair of outside post positions in his last two starts.

Yonkers: Saturday 7/26 Analysis
By Matt Rose
DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 218 - 636 / $1137.70 BEST BETS: 37 - 52 / $120.40

Best Bet: RUSSLEY RASCAL N (4th)

Spot Play: ROCNROLWILNEVERDIE (1st)

Race 1

(2) ROCNROLWILNEVERDIE was wiped out early when facing better in last; there are no standouts here and this looks like a live spot for the gelding to snap his seasonal skid. (6) SHORTSTACKED also drops and Goodell returns in the sulky. (1) ELECTRIC SHOOTER gets some needed post relief off a no-chance effort.

Race 2

(6) BROOKSTONE bounced back last week with a better effort and it wouldn't shock me if Brennan got aggressive tonight. (1) THE POKESTER moves back inside and appears pretty logical from this spot. (3) SWIFT AS A SHADOW beat up on much lesser upon arrival from Harrington; four-year-old made good money as a youngster on the NYSS circuit.

Race 3

(6) CONNERY BLUE CHIP drops back in for a tag which is curious because he's certainly held his own with much better conditioned types; he merits serious consideration here. (3) FUTURE CHARACTER is up in class again looking for another win. (1) WHOLLY LOUY is back at the level of his win two weeks ago.

Race 4

(1) RUSSLEY RASCAL N gets serious post relief and gets Brennan in the bike; Vallee trainee is clearly the one to beat. (3) CODE WORD returns with post relief and he will be close to the action. (6) BJ'S GUY sat and never had a shot last week; maybe he's a closing threat tonight.

Race 5

(6) HERE WE GO AGAIN really frustrated me last week when he didn't leave the gate and therefore had no chance; he faces a tougher group tonight but I have no choice but to select him again. (5) ESPEN DE VIE returns at a reduced level and he may be the favorite here. (1) LATE NITE FLIGHT has raced very well in his last two.

Race 6

(5) PANCETTA hasn't put in a bad effort since returning from California and he's got as good a shot as any in this competitive Open. (4) HESTON BLUE CHIP couldn't gain last week into that well-rated pace up front; Toscano trainee is worth following. (8) P H SUPERCAM is stuck outside again but the Levy winner is more than capable with a live trip.

Race 7

(2) ROCK ON MOE couldn't reach from the eight hole last week but he should be much better-placed tonight. (5) MONTREAL PHIL is better than he's been showing recently. (1) GRAND MASTER is a fringe player with these but he should pick up a check from this spot.

Race 8

(4) TAKE IT BACK TERRY has put in some solid efforts here recently and he would be no surprise from this spot. (7) RAMPAGE JACKSON was a blowout winner in his debut for the Brainard barn and we'll see how he reacts to the rise in class. (6) SMOOTH CRIMINAL also faces tougher but he's been razor-sharp.

Race 9

(7) PONTIAC LUCK may be a bit of a stretch from this tough spot but he does hail from very live connections (Brennan/Burke) and there are no standouts here. (1) RIVER RUN FOR RYAN returns from stakes action up in Maine and he's a proven commodity here. (4) BITTERSWEET CHAMP broke early last out; prior efforts were decent.

Race 10

(2) TRACK MASTER D was both lucky and good last week; he can repeat with another favorable journey. (4) STATION THREEOHSIX steps way up in class off the claim but his form is tough to knock. (1) SAND SUMMERFIELD appears to have been overmatched in all races since he was claimed; sometimes horses can go sour from that.

Race 11

(1) ROCKIN AMADEUS returns locally for Takter and he'll go down the road tonight. (2) JUSTIFIED may sit the pocket from start to finish. (4) VILLAGE BEAT got back on the winning track last out in a race marred by breakers but he's got plenty of back class to call upon.

Race 12

(6) THIRTY TWO RED never got involved last week after a series of solid efforts; Schnittker trainee can bounce back here. (3) FRIDAY AT FIVE moves in a couple of spots and he looms a prime contender. (1) CHARGER BLUE CHIP drops a notch, draws best and Bartlett should try to secure a good trip from this spot.

Race 4 - Maiden Special Weight - 7.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $3000 Class Rating: 61

FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARDS. THREE YEAR OLDS, 122 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
The Walker Group Picks

# 2 ESLIN 9/5

# 3 MUSIC IS MAGIC 8/1

# 5 ANDY PARKER 4/1

My pick for this race is ESLIN. Looks very good to be on or close to the lead at the first call. In fine fettle, and coming right back again this time out. This horse ought to be given consideration just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint events alone. MUSIC IS MAGIC - Must be given consideration given the class of races run lately. ANDY PARKER - This equine enters today's contest now going off Lasix. Has been running admirably lately and should be on the front end early on.

#5 ELEGANT IN SILK (ML=6/1)
#2 SURF QUEEN (ML=10/1)

ELEGANT IN SILK - I like to see fast morning drills. This filly's last one was very good. Second fastest of the day. In my opinion, you need 'class' to be successful on the turf. This one has the highest average class rating in the bunch. SURF QUEEN - This filly is in fine condition. Ran second on Jul 6th. I like the way this filly's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a thoroughbred coming into top form. This filly ********** a nice speed figure of 73 in her last event. That rating should be lofty enough to triumph today. 41-43-73 are last 3 speed figs. Improving each time out is something she should do again in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 GANNET (ML=3/1), #4 BLACK MISCHIEF (ML=7/2), #1 EXCESS CHARM (ML=5/1),

GANNET - I think this morning-line favorite needs this race under her belt to start getting back into shape. In this instance, this questionable contender's inability to make up ground in the last event is a matter of concern. This entrant ran a quite unimpressive speed figure in the last race. She shouldn't improve and will likely lose in today's event running that fig. BLACK MISCHIEF - Don't think this racer will make an impact today. That last speed figure was mediocre when compared with today's class figure. EXCESS CHARM - Hard to play this filly today since the race isn't limited to three year olds. Most unsatisfactory speed figure last time out at Oak Tree at Pleasanton at 1 mile 70 yards. Don't believe this runner will improve too much today.

#7 DANCE WITH EFFIE (ML=5/2)
#5 LET IT FLO (ML=7/2)

DANCE WITH EFFIE - This filly is in fine physical condition, having run a nice race on July 12th, finishing third. When Matias and Tollett team up on animals the ROI has been wonderful at +190. LET IT FLO - Gutierrez and Penney perform well when they team up. Tough to top a winning percentage of 31. Penney sends this one to the starting gate for the first time. With a win pct of 25 with first timers, I'll give this one a long hard look. Generally speaking, horses on Lasix for the 1st time should be considered. That's what we have here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 SEVEN FIFTY MISTY (ML=4/1), #6 SNEAKING A KISS (ML=9/2), #1 SWEET RENATA (ML=5/1),

SEVEN FIFTY MISTY - Tough for anyone who saw this steed in her last race to invest in her this time around. This less than sharp equine ran a disappointing speed figure in the last race. She shouldn't run much better and will likely get beat in today's event running that fig. SNEAKING A KISS - This filly gave a lackluster effort last time out. SWEET RENATA - Don't think this steed has what it takes to cross the finish line in first in today's event.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - LET IT FLO - My information shows that first time starters fare much better when working out at today's track. This animal fits the bill.

The Walker Group Picks

# 2 PUCHADOR 8/5

# 5 LION ON THE RUN 5/2

# 4 NEW GOVERNMENT 2/1

PUCHADOR is my choice. He has earned quite good numbers under today's conditions and should fare well against this group of animals. Difficult to pass on this gelding with Diaz in the saddle. He looks formidable in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the halfway point. LION ON THE RUN - He looks solid in this spot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the halfway point. Must be given a shot - I like the figures from the last race. NEW GOVERNMENT - Ran a sharp last race. I can't pass on this gelding given one of the top jockey and trainer combos on the grounds.

The Jim Dandy Stakes
9.0 FURLONGS DIRT GRADE II THREE YEAR OLDS $600,000.00 PURSE

#4 TONALIST
#5 KID CRUZ
#7 WICKED STRONG
#2 LEGEND

For you folks who enjoy a little Thoroughbred Racing History to accompany your handicapping efforts this afternoon ... the Jim Dandy recognizes the horse that scored one of racing's memorable upsets, the defeat of Triple Crown winner Gallant Fox in the 1930 Travers Stakes at odds of 100-1. The 1930 Travers was one of just seven career victories from 141 starts for Jim Dandy, who also won the 1929 Grand Union Stakes at the Spa. From its inaugural running in 1964 until 1970, the Jim Dandy was run at a mile. In 1971 it was contested at seven furlongs, and thereafter has been run at 1 1/8 miles. Here in the 51st renewal of this stakes event ... #4 TONALIST has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in four straight, winning three times in this recent streak of racing consistency, including a "POWER RUN WIN" to annex The Belmont Stakes 48 days ago. Jockey Joel Rosario and Trainer Chris Clement send him to the post ... they've hit the board with 57% of their last 80 entries saddled as a team to date. #5 KID CRUZ, an 8-1 shot, has posted a quartet of "POWER RUN WINS" in his last five outings.

# 2 BAILEY'S WISH 2/1

# 1 SAY NO MO 4/1

# 4 ROLLETTE 6/1

BAILEY'S WISH sure does look ready to take the whole enchilada. Not many knocks against this solid standardbred, let's give her a shot. This affair could very well be controlled by this filly. One look at the avgerage TrackMaster Speed Rating will confirm that. Worth considering this time if only for the competitive speed fig achieved in the most recent race. SAY NO MO - This horse has a nose for the wire, just look at her better than average win percentage. Has a bang-up shot today, if she can repeat her back racing class. ROLLETTE - The group saw this horse's name in a newspaper. Call it our coffee house play, worth a small wager.

# 10 COOTER DUNN 8/5

# 1 BIRTHDAY CHIP 4/1

# 9 FAST TO THE WIRE 6/1

If you want a good play for this one, feast your eyes on COOTER DUNN. The trainer Bauslaugh has a special way with this colt, regularly cashing in their contests. Feel the need for speed, this contender has been turning in some exemplary speed ratings averaging around 63. With a respectable 72 speed rating last time out, will very likely be a factor in this outing. BIRTHDAY CHIP - Can't forget based on speed figs which have been exemplary (53 avg) within the recent past. Handicappers have often played trainers changing equipment (first time hoppled today). FAST TO THE WIRE - Win rate for this driver/handler is a sparkling 19 percent - strong chance. Gelding and trainer go together like two peas in a pod. They finish in the money 100 percent of their races.
