I guess it really depends on who you talk to when it comes down to it.

If you asked Tiger he would probably say The Masters.
If you asked Mcilroy he would tell you The British.

Only thing that is universally agreed on is which of the 4 is last. That would be the PGA.

I think the US Open is the best test of the 4 but it does not have the same history as the British.

And yes the Masters is very big over here in the USA but of the 4 majors I think the masters does the worst job of all the majors when it comes to pure golf.

But that green jacket is special.

I have gone back and forth between all 3 of those majors trying to figure out which one I would like to win the most.

Maybe I should have put a poll on this question.

The Masters - Because it is the same test every year - moving around the opens is good and it should be done - but b/c the masters is played at the same course it makes it the most prestigious

Great answer, and I agree completely.

US Open for me is the truest test of golf where driving, iron play and putting are all at a premium. My issue with The Masters is that it is set up for the longer drivers and there is no real penalty for poor driving.

played at the same place cause it was like 30 years old before someone decided to call it a major

and without enough top flight courses as the last of the 3 in the states to have a tourney they were stuck at the one course

What a hell of a course to be stuck at...

I would say for the Masters has all the hype due to the way it is really run by Augusta and all the hype around it, same course, Green Jacket etc....But the PGA is right up there in my book based on the courses they give it to and the fields etc.
