No particular reason for starting this thread.

But I can't stand when you talk to professional people in all lines of business and they discuss times. Everyone of them says "We close at 9pm Eastern Standard Time. Or Pacific Standard Time. Standard time is only 4 months out of the year, and nobody anywhere seems to know this.

Most of the time, it's Daylight Time, people. It's been around since like World War 2.

It's confusing as hell for places that don't change times. Western Indiana doesn't. They are always on EST. Arizona doesn't. They are always on MST.

Hey Illini.....

Don't know if they still do...... probably not....... but, back in the day (around 8-10 years ago)...... there was a small town in the very SW part of Indiana..... can't recall the name of the little town..... where the time was different in the summer in different areas of the SAME LITTLE TOWN. No kidding. I was told it was really amazingly stupid.... but went on for a while.

so they should close at 8 for those 4 months :think2:
No, they should quote the correct time and say daylight time. Or if they are too stupid to know, just say Eastern time or Central time.

Can we turn this into a pet peeve thread? Love a good pet peeve thread.

Like people not waiting for "walk" sign before crossing the street. You can't wait 30 seconds? You are so important that you have the right to run across the street as you see fit?

If I had a dollar for every time I've stood patiently waiting while other people around me run across the street I could go ahead and retire

I drive in Boston everyday. Trust me, Bostonians never "run". They saunter in front of moving vehicles. About the dumbest thing one can do, yet many, many do it. Makes you crazy if you have to drive around these shitsforbrains.

But why are you waiting if there are no cars? I think I can tell my safety better than some blinking light

Because it says don't walk for a reason. Reason number one why I don't walk is because it's against the law.

Reason number two is because of things like a girl in Louisville last month getting hit by a concrete truck amd dragged across a bridge and killed because she didn't notice the vehicle getting ready to turn right and across her path.

Actually never knew that. Thanks for the heads up. Always thought it was just EST instead of ET. Noted.

Right now, ET is EDT. From Nov to March, it's EST. Trust me, you were in the majority.

Vegas is always on PT. But Phoenix is not. Phoenix stays MST all the time. So they are on PDT now, but they are an hour of ahead of Vegas in the winter.

How about the people that order at subway like "a little lettuce, a lot of tomatoes, oh a little more tomatoes and less lettuce, a couple banana peppers, extra green peppers, light black olives, italian dressing, extra mayo, and lots of ranch" Meanwhile the line is backed out the door and these people think they are at a steakhouse and not ordering a 5 dollar footlong.

And don't get me started when two people order one footlong with two complete different halves of the sandwich to save 40cents by not getting two six inches.

I go to subway 3-6 times a week so people that don't follow proper protocol really get on my nerves. I quickly give my order, bread first, then sandwich type, then cheese, then toasted or not. As they are toasting my sandwich i am filling up my drink, grabbing my chips, and handing my debit card to the cashier. As the cashier is processing my card I order my toppings (no extra, light, a little more, a little less bullshit). I grab my receipt as they bag up my sandwich and i'm out the door.

The don't walk is a recommendation because cars may be coming, but if there are no cars - why would i stand there waiting. People get hit by cars all the time, but it doesn't mean its because they disregard that magic hand
