When buying a 4k Ultra HD, you want to purchase 84 inches or higher........that's when you can tell the differences between the 4k Ultra's & the 1080p........65" & smaller, sitting on your couch looking at them side by side, you won't see much of a difdetence.

Blue-ray movies definitely look better on a 4k UHD.......

Samsung is coming out with a 120 inch 4k UHDsoon.......so is LG.

You're looking at paying $6,000 to $10,000 for a 70 inch up to 85 inches.

I looked at a 60 inch Samung. Also at a 79 inch LG 4K uhd. The LG was incredible.
The techie told me the curved sets are a gimmick.

The information I got was on the Samsung uhd 4k hu8550. Excellent set but one guy gave it a 3.5 because of watching sports it "judders". I guess plasma is the way to go for sports.

Thanks for the links also fellas.

I have a 50 inch Sony plasma that I bought in 2006 & a Sony 50 inch LED that I bought 3 years ago & the plasma blows away my led for sports & every other channel. Even the channels that aren't HD, they look way better on the plasma.

I still haven't found a TV anywhere that compares to the Sony plasma. Such a great picture & watch the NFL ticket is awesome.

I'm waiting until a 4k UHD TV comes out & looks better than my plasma, then I will buy one.

I'm reading 8k tvs are in the work. I wouldn't even bother the higher resolutions only make a difference on huge tvs. You could buy a 70 inch tv and not see a difference.

Also the source material. If something is not broadcast in 4k you won't see it in 4k even if you have a 4k tv.

The source is the key.

Kinda ds the principle as having a color tv but leave it to beaver is still in black and white

Yep, the 4k UHD channels need to be available & movies need to be broadcast in it as well.

There's the 4k UHD media player that runs $500.......

I remember when I bought my HD plasma 8 years ago & hardly any channels were in HD, lol. When ESPN, travel channel & a few others went HD, thought it was really cool. Now we are spoiled with everything on TV needing to be HD. Are we gonna look back say in the year 2025 & say that 1080p HD wasn't that great compared to whatever technology will be out then?

I remember reading about OLED, a technology taking parts of a plasma & parts of an LED & putting them together building a really nice TV. That technology is really slow for some reason & you can buy one but they are really expensive & supposedly OLED is gonna be better than 4k UHD.......but like was mentioned, unless the material is broadcast in 4k UHD, its just what we have now with a more expensive TV.

I would have him buy a 65" ish Panasonic plasma. Most agree it's (still) the best looking tv after getting it correctly calibrated (and I don't mean you necessarily have to hire someone). I have that, a Samsung and a LG and whie all 3 give great pictures, the Pioneer is the biggest and still looks the best.

I agree with Chop the Pioneer is great but they don't make them anymore

My Panasonic 60" plasma is amazing and is 5 years old. Wouldn't trade it for anything. My 60" Samsung plasma is a close second and was a little cheaper. I agree plasma is still king.
