Report: PGA Tour suspends Dustin Johnson six months for positive cocaine test

Dustin Johnson stepped away from the PGA Tour on Thursday, citing personal issues he had to address. A day later, it is being reported that the golfer is under a six-month suspension from the tour after testing positive for cocaine.


Golf.com is reporting Johnson has failed three drug tests. The site says he flunked one for marijuana in 2009 and two others for cocaine in 2012 and 2014, respectively. FOX Sports 1 golf insider Robert Lusetich reports that one of those tests was at the U.S. Open.


According to the report, he was suspended for the 2012 test but it was not made public.


Golf.com also says Johnson had had a sexual indiscretion with at least one wife of a PGA Tour player. Lusetich reports that he had such indiscretions with two PGA Tour wives, one of which ended a marriage.

I had a feeling this was the REAL reason why he was taking time off from the PGA Tour. And not the impression that he had other personal problems or exhaustion like the tour was trying to make it yesterday on the Golf Channel. Johnson has had drug problems since highschool. He was also arrested as a juvenile. He supplied bullets for the gun that his brother used to kill a guy. His brother is serving a life sentence without parole for that crime.

Didn't know they drug tested on the tour. They definitely don't PED test or Woods would have been suspended.

I think it was his buddy's brother that killed the guy, not DJ's. Not that it makes a huge difference.

I think the PGA is starting to crack down because golf is getting ready to become an olympic sport where drug testing will be mandatory.
