Last week, or maybe it was the week before, I lost 2 three unit team totals. I have some time this week to cap games and my goal is to AT LEAST win those 6 units back. I like today's card even though it's small.

Chicago/ Texas- over 9 (-115) 4 units. The only thing bad about this play is the number. But it's at 9 for a reason. The Twins have just feasted on the White Sox pitching(and their dreadful bullpen). Now it's the Rangers turn. Noesi is starting to look like what he really is- a marginal major leaguer who is due for regression. He's been giving up more HRs, more walks, more hits and runs, and has been only been saved by stranded runners. That is due to even up. Both teams have awful bullpens. Both teams have somewhat potent lineups although for the life of me I can't figure out why Texas doesn't score more often. Nick Martinez might actually be worse than Noesi. In his last 4 starts he has walked more than he whiffed, and has given up 13 HRs in just 78 IPs. He is only in there because of the incredibly injury ravaged state of the Ranger pitching staff. Cellular Field also is a decent hitter's park, with narrow foul territories and short fences. The wind will likely be a non factor. When I see that the total on the Nats/ Orioles game is just 2 runs more, a NL game with 2 pretty good pitchers and 2 strong bullpens, 9 is NOT such a ridiculous number. Plus the Orioles are slumping a bit.

Detroit ML (-120) 2 units. This play is based on the Yankees coming off a 3 game series with their hated rivals, the Red Sox. Those games are always intense and grueling, and the Yankees are actually in the wild card hunt(although I believe without Tanaka they'll fade soon enough). The other thing I like here is that Brandon McCarthy is waaay overdue for a thumping. Arizona is desperate for pitching and they trade him?? The Tigers, like everyone else, love to show their stuff in Yankee Stadium. Max Scherzer too- who happens to be playing for a contract. The Yankees are hitting, but considering the state of the Sox's pitching staff, that's no surprise. Another reason I expect the Yankees will falter is the constant flux of their roster, too many young pitchers, and too many overpaid, underperforming hitters.

I've been eyeing that White Sox OVER 9 all morning long. The only reason I cant pull the trigger is because of the inconsistency of both teams' bats. Both pitchers suck ass. I may follow you and drop some on this myself...but won't be posting it as an official play.

Already on the Tigers ML!

Oakland -1 (+107) 2 units. The Rays played a nearly 4 hour(delayed) game yesterday and now fly out west to play the very tough A's. It takes a day or two to get used to the West Coast time difference and the Rays will be starting this game after 10 PM their time. I also think the trading of Price took the wind out of their sails, and some of their players have to be questioning just what little they got in return. Both starters are on their game, although the A's have a slight edge in bullpens. The A's cannot relax with their great record since the Angels are hot on their heels for the division title. That's why they traded for Lester. Who wants to play a 1 game playoff series when you mighty have to face King Felix, a possibly hot Blue Jay team, or lose by a fluke?

Cleveland RL +110. one unit. I know the Reds finally broke out hitting yesterday, but they faced Jacob Turner, one of the worst starters in the NL. Without Votto and Phillips, this lineup has proven to be a dud. I also think Kluber is what his stats say he is. Great fastball, great command, poise, and off speed stuff that is used at the right times. The Indians are better at home and have a strong bullpen. Simon, the Reds' starter, has been very good this year, but he might be tiring since he was a reliever all of last year. The Indians hit righties better and know how to work a pitcher.

If the game gets called after this inning due to rain, will the bet count as a lose because we had over 9 and it was 8 through 6 innings when they called the game.
