Rays @ Rangers
Recommendation: Rays -127
The Rangers should come into this one tired as they’recoming off of a 9 game road trip. With nothing to play for, we won’t see muchurgency as these players have finally returned to their wives and children.Colby Lewis has been pitching very well as of late for the Rangers, but hestill has a horrible 5.50 ERA on the season. Sure, he’s had a decent 4 gamestretch, but his guy is just not a good pitcher anymore. His velocity is downand he doesn’t possess the movement that he had on his pitches prior toundergoing Tommy John surgery.
Drew Smyly makes his second start since coming over fromDetroit in the David Price trade. He didn’t pitch great in his firstappearance, but we can figure that he’ll have left the first game “jitters”behind now that he’s gotten a chance to settle in. Smyly has been a solid pitcherfor Detroit all season, with an ERA in the 3’s. He’s also a southpaw, whichwill help keep the Rangers bats off track.
The Rangers have lost 6 of 9 with nothing to play for. TheRays still are hoping that they can contend for a playoff spot and even thoughthose hopes may not be likely, they’ll still come into this one with somethingto play for. Take the Rays.
