If one plans to make a bet upwards of 10k at a book in Vegas, should he split it up into a 3-4 smaller wagers so as not to have to worry about reporting/W-2/title 31?

I would be worried even about a 5k wager that when cashed broke the 10k mark and thus would be reported that day at the casino/sportsbook.

Any commentary or suggestions would be appreciated, including if the book itself would be amenable to someone making (4) 2-3k bets in order to not have to worry about this eventuality.

Thanks

If you are not talking NFL football.... you may need to step next door to another book or two.

As I recall the counter person should be obligated to look at you cross-eyed if you are obviously skirting the 10K area. They might also want to move the price on you.

Of course... we are not discussing this in any official capacity right now.

Someone may have more current info than me. I would suggest using more than one location, if you have plenty of time.

All this being said...... if you are a big-time player and they like your business..... they won't bat an aye!

Packer - what's the largest wager you have ever placed and what game was it on? Did you win?
