What Pat Hayden did last night coming out of the box and coming on the field to argue with refs was an embarrassment to all athletic directors , but the fact that this guy is on the playoff selection committee makes this an intolerable act.

Theres no room for Jerry Jones types on the playoff committee.

Is it any worse than the SEC network influencing the voting committee?

Hayden was wrong to argue with the ref and Sark was wrong for asking/allowing it to happen. But there is no reason for Hayden to step down from the playoff committee.

Well you're probably right , that was a bit of an overreaction on my part ... but ive had problems since day 1 of having sitting AD's and people with obvious biases on the committee.

I hope they appoint a sergeant at arms that has the respect of the committee members b/c if he dis respects the authority of the refs , why would he respect the oppinons of other committee members. .... i'd love to be a fly on the wall at those meetings.

Hayden gets a $25,000 fine and a reprimand.

But still on playoff committee.

From what I have read, the basketball committee is made up of AD's as well, but they leave the room when a team in their conference is being discussed. I agree with you though, there's way too much of a conflict of interest

They selected Condi Rice to the committee to basically be the sergeant at arms and keep the other members in order. Any votes these members make can't involve their own conference affiliations. So anything involving the Pac-12, Hayden will be asked to leave the room when the others vote. But I do agree about Hayden. He was a bit of an ass for going down on the field. The field is the head coach's sanctuary. That's not part of an AD's description.
