Someone is out for blood:

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — An anonymous law enforcement official said he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago, while commissioner Roger Goodell has insisted the league didn’t see the violent images until this week.

The person played a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and said: “You’re right. It’s terrible.”

Hours after the report Wednesday, Goodell announced former FBI director Robert S. Mueller III will conduct a probe into how the league pursued and handled evidence as it investigated claims against Rice.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement that the investigation will be overseen by owners Art Rooney II of the Steelers and John Mara of the New York Giants. Goodell said Mueller will have access to all NFL records and will have full cooperation from league personnel.

Almost ridiculous as the mitchell report, considering mitchell was on the board of directors for the Red Sox, and one wouldn't even know the franchise existed reading the report .

Yes, this is completely ridiculous.

Here is what Mara said yesterday about the Commish:

New York Giants co-owner John Mara called the notion NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's job is now in jeopardy "misguided," though Mara and other owners were initially "dissatisfied" with Goodell's too lenient, two-game suspension of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice.

LMAO

Well, I think this is going to end with something along the lines of "there were significant institutional failures in the NFL security office..."

Mueller, based in Washington, D.C., is a partner in the law firm of WilmerHale, which helped negotiate the NFL's Sunday Ticket package with DirecTV. The firm also has represented Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, and several former members of the firm have taken positions with NFL teams.

This is almost comical..

Roger Goodell Feared Backlash in Ray Rice Investigation

National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell didn't pursue the Ray Rice domestic-violence incident as vigorously as he might have out of respect for Rice's now-wife, Janay, according to one NFL owner.

In conversations about the Rice case over the summer, the owner said, Goodell privately told other owners that during his investigation, in a meeting with the Rices in June, Janay Rice said she had struck her then-fiancée and that she believed she was partly at fault for the incident. Goodell also said he left the meeting believing that
Janay Rice had become unconscious because she had fallen during the scuffle.

After Goodell suspended Rice for two games in July, this person said, Goodell told several NFL owners that he felt it would have been insensitive to question Janay Rice's story because it would have come across as an indictment of her character. Two people familiar with the commissioner's thinking, including the owner, said they believe the thoroughness of the investigation, and Goodell's decision to suspend Rice for two games, both reflected Goodell's discomfort with challenging Janay Rice's story.
