No Spin-o-Rama Shot in shootout.. Can someone explain why this is...

Also...The NHL's tweaks also include a wider trapezoid, an emphasis on policing faceoffs and embellishment, and teams will now be required to switch ends prior to overtime.

Incredibly dumb to eliminate this. The success rate on shootouts can't be higher than what, 30%? Why try to knock that down even lower?

I was talking to a buddy of mine who is an NHL nut...his theory is goalies only have to concentrate on the shooter during shootouts, as opposed to in-game breakaways where there are several other moving parts they need to consider like defensemen coming back, another opponent joining the attack, etc. This new rule will eliminate one more thing goalies need to look out for.

Practically every spinorama penalty shot I've seen should have been ruled dead. When you're taking a penalty shot the puck is not supposed to ever stop moving towards the net once you touch it. Most of the time, spinoramas result in a puck changing the direction sideways or backwards and the ref should be whistling it dead. It's about time. With that said, I hate shootouts.

I'm old school and hate the shootout. Bring back the tie.

No more 4 on 4 in OT, either.

Point system makes no sense. Teams don't deserve a point for losing. Period.

I lost interest in regular season hockey when the above rules were implemented. Only watch playoffs now.

I think the rule for a penalty shot, is that the skater cannot stop in front of the goal, or go backwards.

The spin-o-rama, is very borderline.

First you have to break, then go the other way. That means you're going backwards, and that is against the rule of the penalty shot.

Doing away with the shoot out would be awesome

The rule change involving switching ends, (long changes), for the OT and dry scrape will certainly help in this. We should see many more games end in those five minutes than in the past.

technically under the rules as they were, once a skater stops forward progress the play is dead. So none of those goals should have counted anyway.

I'd like to see alternating 2 minute power plays, 1 round of 5 on 4, 1 round of 4 on 3, that's 4 power plays, one goal will definitely be scored.
