Adrian Peterson indicted on child abuse

The Minnesota Vikings benched Adrian Peterson for Sunday's game after his attorney said he had been indicted by a Texas grand jury on a charge of child abuse.Attorney Rusty Hardin says the charge accuses Peterson of using a branch, or switch, to spank his son. He says Peterson has cooperated with authorities and "used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son." Hardin says Peterson regrets the incident but never intended to harm the boy.
The Vikings say Peterson will not be active for Sunday's home game against New England.
The allegations come during a week in which the NFL has been under heavy scrutiny for the way it handled a domestic violence case involving former Ravens running back Ray Rice and his then-fiancee.

Athletes are always put on a high pedestal.....just goes to show they are human and capable of human error....

On a side note, Peterson couldn't hold a candle to my Dad...hahahahahaha....my pops never left marks....

If this is the extent of what he did... using a switch to spank his son ... in the traditional sense of parental discipline. Then man oh man.. what a Fking joke. I am a better man for my mother hitting me when i was a kid. My mother broke a thick wooden spoon while hitting me one time.

If there is more to this story, then the jury is still out.. but just hitting your kid with a belt or switch ? Really?? Somebody should take a switch to whoever reported it and tell them to mind their own business

Shit man.. i remember high school teachers in the late 70's early 80's that were known for punching kids who were running wild. Times sure have changed.

I've been spanked as a kid, little disciplines not the end of the world but listening to the radio the kid was with him for the weekend, got back to his mother and she saw his ass was all cut up, took him to the doctor to get him tended to, doctor said it was child abuse, turned it over to a 2nd doctor who also agreed it crossed the line of discipline and was child abuse so they had to report it. Who knows how bad it was but if he's hitting his kid bad enough that it cut his ass up, maybe he needed to show a little restraint. That wooden spoon I used to get as a kid would leave a red mark for a minute but i'd get on with my life, he was either too rough or used the wrong tool for the job.

When I was 15 I put logs in the road causing a car to crash - don't know y I did it other than I was a kid and stupid - when my dad found out he cracked me in the head and I hit the floor - on the floor my dad repeatedly kicked me - I'm talking stomping me - 25 years later I can sat I deserved this beating - what if someone died from a car crash

When I was 16 I wanted to get an earring - when my dad found out he said it was no problem because Im now 16 and I can make my own decisions - he then said that I need to be certain that I can kick his ass when I come home with an earring - guess what? I never got an earring - this is the problem with inner city kids - there is no father and the kids do whatever the fuck they want - then theyre dead or in jail and everyone is baffled how it happened

Come on guys the kid is 4 years old. Old school discipline is one thing but making a 4 year old bleed is ridiculous. What a POS this guy is, he obviously has issues.
