I think REX HILL is a very good choice. Has to be given consideration here on the basis of the numbers in the speed department alone. BEACH CITY BEAUTY - With better than average trips to the winner's circle, Cano will probably have this mare in excellent position to win the contest. Ought to be given a chance - I like the figures from the last contest. ROCK THAT WAGON - Will likely be one of the early speedsters of the bunch going into the halfway point of the affair. Ran a strong last race.

My selection here is WISTFUL WILDCAT. He has been running solidly and the speed figures are among the best in this group. He has a very strong distance/surface win record - 7 - 31. Should be given consideration based on the respectable Equibase speed fig earned in the last contest. POWER DREAMS - Baker has a strong win percentage with horses running in dirt sprint races. No strangers to the winner's circle, Baker and Rodriguez will almost certainly have this gelding breaking away from the field. FRIED - Looks very good for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid numbers in dirt sprint races as of late. He has a very strong distance/surface win record - 8 / 34.

AWESOME LION - The morning line odds on this gelding are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of trainer Lake. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. BUDDY'S SMART - It looks like the race should set up for a closer. This gelding's running style fits the bill nicely. FAMILIARIZE - Taking a big drop in class rating points from his August 26th race at Parx Racing. Based on that info, I will give this horse the advantage. This speedy sort is shortening up today. Should increase his likelihood of winning. (EPS) earnings per start is something that I think can be a very key selection factor. This racer is ranked number 1 in this field. That 90 fig this gelding earned in his last affair tells me he's a chief player today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 TEXAS TEX (ML=7/2), #1A WAHOO LEGAL (ML=8/1), #1 PROPER FREUD (ML=8/1),

TEXAS TEX - Should take this one off your contenders list with the insufficiency of zip in that last route clash. WAHOO LEGAL - This colt notched a speed fig in his last event which probably isn't good enough in today's event. PROPER FREUD - The sixth place finish in the last affair was not that great.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - FAMILIARIZE - Steady improvement in his speed ratings, 90 last race and 85 two races back. This mount is going to be tough against these ponies.

CATTLE ACT - Eikleberry's agent must like anytime Evans gives them a mount; winning percentage together is fantastic. If the speed horses get weary, this filly will kick into high gear. This filly is probably the best stretch runner in the field. Evans will try adding the 'shades' today in hopes of an improved performance. GOT ACES - You have to really like that latest race speed rating, 64, which is the best most recent race speed figure of this bunch. She has the highest EPS (earnings per start). Take a good look at this thoroughbred. Recent Equibase speed figures show powerful pattern of improvement.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 STORMY JANET (ML=7/2), #2 SHESONFIREFORYOU (ML=5/1), #5 SWEET STRIPA SUGAR (ML=6/1),

STORMY JANET - I find it hard to play any racer in a short distance affair at 7/2 when she hasn't shown any on the board results in sprints in the last sixty days. This morning-line choice ran on August 16th and hasn't had a blow out since. SHESONFIREFORYOU - Finished second in her most recent race with a disappointing speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this bunch. SWEET STRIPA SUGAR - This filly raced surprisingly well on Aug 8th winding up third, but hasn't even visited the track since then. Not really a good sign.

STEUBEN PATRIOT looks nice to best this field. This entrant looks dangerous. Check out the 89 avg speed figure. A very good class horse shouldn't be be passed over. With an avg class figure of 89 all signs look very good for this one. Really liked this horse's last race. Ran a strong 81 speed rating. Major player. KENNANSKINGWILLIAM - Have to get behind a harness racer coming out of the Monticello Raceway 2 hole. The win stat is fantastic, way above normal. Could very likely best this group of animals given the 78 speed rating recorded in his last competition. CLAPIFUC BLUEGRASS - Sometimes you just have to go with good vibrations, love this one's chances.

Look no further than MAXIMUM VIKING as the wager in this contest. His 70 avg has this gelding among the top speed figures in this race. Good for a win play just off the outstanding prior class figures. Have to like this nice horse. Has to be given a look based on the very nice speed rating earned in the last contest. MISTY'S DIGNITY - Has really strong speed ratings and definitely has to be considered for a wager in this contest. Been competing with some tougher customers of late, has a distinct class advantage. (Average Rating 78). ANSWER THE BELL - Overall numbers look respectable. Can't throw him out of the picture.

Race 1

(1) VODKAINDUCEDDREAMS gets a big driver change, the best post, and owns good gate speed. (5) PAPA GRANDE seems to race better forwardly placed and might try and do just that. (4) SLOT ARTIST will offer a big price and should be closer turning for home; use underneath.

Race 2

(4) HERBEDAONE is very inconsistent but a good effort puts him in the mix at a price. (6) STRIKING LIGHTNING comes off a really nice effort and could have more to offer. (1) ELIAN EXPRESS has yet to win on the year but looks to be in line for a very good trip.

Race 3

(6) CASHONTHEROCS well bred trotter picks up the top driver and will look to make it three wins in five starts on the year. (2) ANNIES MASTER looks terrible on paper but owns the best wins of the field on the year. (3) CJ'S SUPER SECRET was parked the mile down in class last out and could use a smooth trip.

Race 4

(5) OIL SLICKER will be tough to catch if he makes the top. (1) SONICPEDIA has the best post and gets sent out for hot connections. (9) J F COOKIN rarely wins but is likely to get a ground-saving trip.

Race 5

(2) PASSIONATEPRINCESS mare needed her last start and has room to improve in a very weak field. (1) TUSCARORA BLUEROAN is 0 for twenty-nine on the year but does pick up the top driver with the best post. (3) ST ELIAN'S FIRE is handicapped by the provisional driver; use underneath.

Race 6

(1) COLETECH was a game winner for new connections last out and faces a similar bunch. (2) NEELY SPRING gelding has more ability than what he's recently shown; threat. (3) DOUBLE A GLORIA mare has shown a good burst of speed for an inconsistent trainer.

Race 7

(2) MAXIMUM VIKING just missed last out at this level from the eight-hole. (6) MISTY'S DIGNITY doesn't have much to show for some decent efforts but has been pacing faster than most of the field. (1) COIN OF THE REALM gelding gets a one percent driver but could hit the ticket underneath.

Race 8

(4) WARDOG HALL should benefit from the better post and will be firing early. (3) U BETTOR WATCH OUT gets sent out for proven connections but has been vulnerable late; command a price. (1) MACH TO THE LIMIT needs some racing luck but should be in a good ground saving spot.

Race 9

(4) CALLING A VICTORY trotter just needs to ration out his speed for a big chance. (9) ACTION-EAR-TO-EAR is high risk high reward because the pacing bred trotter would be tough to beat if he minded his manners. (1) ANASTASIA WHINNIE gets a negative driver change but does benefit from the rail.

Race 10

(3) NUTMEGS GIGILO was parked the mile last out going a very tough trip. The pacer had been racing gamely prior and will be tough with a smooth trip. (1) ART'S BOY has been pacing some decent miles and finds an inconsistent field. (2) SUNBURNED VERN is capable of a good effort and should be up in the mix early.

Race 11

(3) LOCK THREE nice-looking pacer has tons of upside and is a trouble-free trip away from making it six wins in ten starts. (1) OUTAMYSPACE gets a positive driver change and the best post but would need more to pick off the top choice. (2) IMPRESSIVE JET dropped and popped but is best used underneath.

Race 12

(5) TARPORT BELLE filly has four wins and four second in eight starts. The pacer has shown a big burst of speed and finds a suspect field. (1) RENATA has two wins in three starts and might be starting to figure it out; threat. (2) LUCK REI owns good gate speed which could put her on the ticket.

Race 13

(3) DON'T FOOL ME NOW shows good efforts against better; threat. (1) MOST REMARKABLE will be looking to take no prisoners; fires early. (5) DERINGER GUN always offers a great price and just needs a good setup for a shot late.

Race 14

(4) ALLAMERICAN COMET picks up a huge driver change and has tons of gate speed. (3) NOAH'S SHARK went a big three quarters of a mile last out and will be a threat with a trip. (9) DALLAS SEELSTER faces a weak field and has beaten better on the year.

Race 15

(3) CRY FOR CASH will offer a big price and needed his last start. (2) CATALINA KID gets a good post in an evenly matched race. (1) SOUTHWIND MAIZE needs a good drive from a low percentage pilot; threat.

Race 1

(9) YOURE MAJESTIC made a miscue last week, but will be the overwhelming favourite again this week. (1) METS LIFE draws the rail for Baillargeon and was a game second last week. (6) CUM LAUDE HALL drops out of the Peaceful Way and into this easier contest. She comes from the Zeron barn and trotted a strong mile last week.

Race 2

(7) REVEREND HANOVER has been highly touted by his connections all winter and he won his career debut last week in convincing fashion. (2) GO DADDY GO might be the favourite when the gates unfold based on his recent efforts and dropping out of the Metro. (4) MIKES POWERHOUSE draws inside, comes from the Coleman barn and has been much better in each of his last two.

Race 3

(4) SPORTING THE LOOK has earnings approaching $150K this season, comes from the Jamieson barn and has three wins from eight starts this season. (5) SPORTSKEEPER has won three of five this season for trainer Coleman. He's a top threat with his quick sped and versatility. (6) ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES is the other Coleman entry and should offer a fair price. Perhaps he's blooming late in the season.

Race 4

(3) SOMEWHERE FANCY comes out of the Simcoe and into an easier field. (4) P L HELLCAT won his dash last week and was impressive in doing so. He'll aim for a repeat effort. (6) NAKED CITY has proven to be a threat in this class and was a game second last week.

Race 5

(5) KEYSTONE TREVOR has been very consistent all season despite just one win from 15 starts. He looks like the horse to beat in here. (3) COUSIN EDDY has been racing well and adapted to this circuit nicely last week. He draws inside and shows terrific gate-speed. (4) LEXUS ROCKY was a winner last week with McNair aboard and is capable of the class jump.

Race 6

(6) NEVERHADITSOGOOD comes from the McNair barn, drops out of the Eternal Camnation and into this maiden class. (8) LIVING HISTORY qualified sharply for O'Sullivan and appears well prepped for her first career start. (4) LUCK BE A LINDY draws inside and showed quick speed in her first career start. She can only improve off that effort.

Race 7

(10) LONG ISLAND TEA moves into the Jones barn, shows quick speed and should offer a fair price. (5) JOSEPH GERARD has been knocking on the door in each of his last two starts and looms as a threat. (4) AQUANILLA offers a lot of versatility, draws inside and finished off her mile very well last week.

Race 8

(3) BOB BEN AND JOHN comes from the Coleman barn, draws inside and has hit the board in five of six starts this season. (7) DRACHAN HANOVER has been blooming late in the year and was a game second last week, by a neck. (2) MAKE SOME LUCK has hit the board in two of three starts this season, draws inside and should offer a healthy price.

Race 9

(8) YS LOTUS romped last week in a new career best and is certainly capable of the class jump. (1) MITTCENT VAN GOGH draws inside, gets Jamieson in the bike and went a big trip last week. (6) IDEAL JET provided a solid effort last week and continues to show quick speed. He's winless this season, but very capable of being a part of the triactor ticket.

Race 10

(4) GIRL DRAMA drops into a claimer this week, draws inside and likely will offer a short price. (6) PROTEGE SEELSTER can't be overlooked in this dash with his back class and level of consistency. (3) INDIAN LAKE came from off-the-pace last week en route to victory in this class and draws inside this week.

Race 11

(9) SHIPPS XPECTANCY has been much better in his last few outings and was a game winner last week in this class. (6) SOULFUL LINDY has hit the board in four of his last five starts, comes from the Auciello barn and will offer a short price. (4) GRANDKIDS ATTACK draws inside and is capable of stepping up. He shows quick gate-speed and draws inside.

Race 12

(5) BUCKAROO has been spectacular in each of his last two starts on this circuit and certainly will be the favourite when the gates unfold. (6) SURPRISE HANOVER drops out of the Simcoe and was timed in 1:50 4/5. (9) MAJOR DEAGAN also drops out of the Simcoe, shows a lot of versatility and is a good option for the triactor.

Race 2

(2) BAMBINO SUPREME's last trip at Philly is an indication she is ready to move forward. (4) PRETTYSYDNEY RIDGE put in a nice qualifier at Philly last time around. (3) CANADIAN OVERALL could have a say in the outcome.

Race 3

(3) DOUBLESHOTASCOTCH moves back inside and could boss these at his best. (1) SAMS TREASURE should do well from the fence. (2) SOUTHERN SWAN fits well in here.

Race 4

(8) RIVER RUN FOR RYAN moves down in class. With the right trip from the 8-hole, this guy can make tonight a winning one. (3) HOT RODDY closed well to grab the placing. (2) KEEPING OPTIMISTIC could land a share of the purse.

Race 5

(2) BROADWAYS FORTUNE has put in four good efforts and this trotting miss can get it done against these. (4) CELTIC MERCHANT Sharp victory at Tioga last time out. (1) SUN OF A VICTORY is better than his last one.

Race 6

(5) VENGANCE just held on for win honors recently. Gelding has a good chance for the repeat. (7) ROLANDALE BUSTER closed strongly for the show spot last time out. (4) MY LAST CHANCE Tough break as the chalk last out but could rebound in here.

Race 7

(1) PLAY THE FIELD faced much better stock. Two-year-old colt retains the rail slot; all systems go. (2) KINGS MANINBLACK got the job done at Monti last time around. (3) GREAT AMERICAN could have a say.

Race 8

(7) BETTOR BELIEVE IT did not race badly last time out. Sophomore gelding can put his best foot forward with Brennan at the helm. (2) GYMOKEE JERRY was second best in his last trip to the post. (1) SLAM DUNK HANOVER gets post relief.

Race 9

(3) RESPECTABLE DREAM put in a nice run in his latest. Sophomore can top these at his best. (1) FRITZIE PIC UP MAN got the job done via the pocket route recently. (2) NEAT is not out of this.

Race 10

(3) SIR JAKES Z TAM moves to the 3-hole and that could help his cause; big threat. (1) WICKED BUSINESS flashed speed last time around. (2) ROYAL RECEPTION just missed the victory in his last try.

Race 11

(2) CMON MR BROCK Good to see Brennan with the call. Gelding can take this group all the way. (7) TWIN B TENACIOUS was second best in his latest. (1) WORLD CUP CULLEN can fare very well from the rail slot.

Race 12

(3) SOME PLAYA moves down in class and this three-year-old can take this group to task for all the cash. (1) KEYSTONE HONOR just got up for second money at Monti recently. (6) NATURAL LEDA has some speed and could contend with these.
