Someone posted this in the other forum. Could somebody please confirm if this is true?

"For a site that trades multi millions their security is crap. If someone knows your username and date of birth, they can hijack your account. Before you login in, all you need to do is click lost password/username, then enter your username, then date of birth and it will allow you to reset the password without any other verification...not even an email. You can simply enter the new password and hijack the account. I wanted another out on top of pinnacle and looked into betfair but once finding this out, there is no way i am opening an account. those of you with big money there, be careful."

Forget Betfair.

They used to have backgammon. I played frequently(still looking to find a good backgammon site). Checked lines ONE time. Brutal wood.

They are better than The Greeks' 80 cent soccer lines :nosepicki, but worse than any 20 cent book.

Don't waste your time.

Your intelligence will be quickly tested.

Homepage has the forgotten username/password link which asks for your email. You cannot hijack somebodies account with just a username and birthday.

Betfair has some issues but its a large scale operation in Britain. This isn't some Mickey Mouse outfit.

Yes, I noticed that their commissions are 6 to 7% for most countries. I remember back in the days when exchanges offered services with 1 to 2% commission. Betfair has gotten greedy. Pinnacle beats them almost in every sport.

The security issue is still there. I just tested my account. Before I logged in, I clicked Forgot password. They asked for my user name, then date of birth then it told me to enter the new password twice and bang, I am logged into my account and the new password is the current password--that is insane. THey do send an email alerting that the password changed but still being able to get a hold of someone's account with just the username and date of birth is ridiculous.

Confused as I see two links, one for forgotten username (which asks for you email) and the other is a forgotten password link and it asks for your Username. After typing in your username it sends you an email.

Commission used to be 5% flat for everyone but recently they upped it to up to 7.5% for some countries. They do have a monopoly on the exchange business so perhaps its greed. They did create a sportsbook in the past year or so which also could've set them back a few dollars and forced them into the new policies.

Betfair is still the place for football (soccer) as the live betting is unmatched by any other outfit. Also offer many more markets per game.
