Bills change QBs; Kyle Orton will start vs. Lions

Orton is 4-0 in his career against the Lions with a 102.2 passer rating

The Buffalo Bills are making a change at quarterback, just in time for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Bills coach Doug Marrone announced today that Kyle Orton will replace E.J. Manuel as Buffalo's starting quarterback.

Orton is 4-0 in his career against the Lions with four touchdown passes, no interceptions and a 102.2 passer rating. In his last start at Ford Field, Oct. 5 of 2008 - six years ago this coming Sunday - Orton completed 24 of 34 passes for 334 yards to lead the Chicago Bears to a 34-7 victory.

Orton also beat the Lions at Soldier Field in 2008, and twice in 2005.

Beat-up Bills, ex-coach Jim Schwartz to visit Lions

The Lions (3-1) beat the Bills (2-2) in the final game of the preseason, days before Orton signed with Buffalo.

Manuel, a first-round pick out of Florida State last year, has completed just 58 percent of his passes this fall while throwing for 838 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Orton has not attempted a pass this year.

Dreadful Move. Manuel has not played badly enough after 4 games to be benched, and Orton is Orton, a mediocrity in every sense. I don't know that Manuel has a future, but I Know Orton doesn't.

I agree he was horrible this week. But it was his 1st bad game of the year, and benching him for KYLE ORTON reeks of a Coach who has lost his team and is clueless.

The Bills (3-2) snapped a two-game skid in Orton's debut as Buffalo's starter after EJ Manuel was benched this week. And their defense had six sacks in delivering coordinator Jim Schwartz a win in his return to Detroit after being fired as Lions head coach last season.

The Ex Lions Kicker (Hello Matt Prater) had more to do with Det losing today than Orton. For the future of that franchise, it was a poor move.
THIS might be the most amazing stat of the season so far: On the season, the Lions are now 1-for-9 on field goals longer than 30 yards.

Losing a game cause your K misses 3 FGs is never good but probably a blessing in disguise. Now they got reason to immediately cut Henery before he costs them an important game. Prater still 1 of the best Ks in the league
