Monday night's game did not go anything like I expected. KC is going to be a very very good team, I was most impressed with their game planning on offense. They seemed to run a wide variety set of plays last night which is kinda scary when you look at their talent at skill positions. They were better coached, more motivated and executed their game plan as good as a game plan can be executed. They were faster and quicker and stronger and dominated both sides of the ball. While the Pats were not only pushed all over the field, they seem to simply fall to the ground in key spots leading to big plays. Just a fugly game.

As a gambler, the Pats have been great to me in these spots over the years, although that trend is certainly trending down.

As a fan, their play has to concern me. My hope is that they rebound in the same fashion so many other teams have rebounded this year after looking pathetic and being written off, which leads to my next post.

It's always been known that teams are never as good as they look on good days, and they're never as bad as they look on bad days, but so far in 2014 that truth has been taken to extreme measures.

Bears lose to Bills at home, go on to beat SF on the road.

Cowboys get beat down at home on opening day. We're all thinking same ole same ole. They haven't lost since and beat down the Saints this week.

The Giants? they were in total disarray after two weeks, absolutely pathetic. they follow that up with two strong performances.

The Chiefs were 0-2, seemingly giving away some of that progress they made last year and Charles was very ineffective. Two weeks later they're pretty darn good again.

Panthers win two, then fall off a cliff.

And then we have TB. A pathetic team that was trounced on prime time TV to fall to 0-3. The worst team in the NFL, right? They follow that up with a road win at Pittsburgh, a team coming off an impressive blow out of Carolina in Carolina.

I really can't recall another 4 week stretch of such epic swings in fortunes, maybe parity is at an all time high. 30 flags per game is a great equalizer :) (BTW, didn't see too many Monday night, which was one good thing for me about that game)

Are the Pats or Saints that bad? how good are GB and SF? What should we think about the NYG or Pitt or Bears? Will the Cowboys be smart enough to stick with their running game? the Jets of course, still suck :)

And one final note, does anyone recall a stretch of games where everybody everywhere is in love with one particular team and that team covers in a blowout? Again, I haven't seen anything like that before. If sports gambling were to be so damn easy all the time, there wouldn't be any sports books (tongue firmly in cheek, and it hasn't been easy for me)

Hey Willie

Hang in there - I think the good teams will start to put together some W's here in October, due to the changes in the CBA Preseason is limited in practice so it takes teams a few weeks to get going once the season starts.

Especially teams that rely on the passing game like NE where it is all about timing and chemistry with the QB, Also teams that install new offenses like NYG and SF take awhile to gel.

Teams that have continuity like San Diego, Baltimore, Cinncy can get off to quick starts.

And always keep in mind the teams have a short memory until Mid Nov, every week is a new week. Also it has been my experience when the public gets off Brady and the Pats that is good time to get on!
